Thought it would be an appropriate area to show off how badly your ae86 has rusted. Not that rust is a good thing, but here are some pictures I stumbled across the other day.

The rust in this car would of been no where as bad, if it wasn't bodged up, and covered with silicon/silastic in the first place. Doing so had trapped water and dirt and accelerated the process. Sad thing is, a $5 can of fish oil would have almost stopped the progression of any rust if it were used in the spots where rust had started to take hold.

Moral of my story? Research what you need to do to prevent rust taking over and DO NOT TRY TO JUST COVER IT UP! Let someone with half a brain do it for you if you can't figure out how to google rust prevention.

Another common mistake is people cut out rust and bog it up and leave undercoat covering the bog. Undercoat attracts water and makes it worse

The seller of your trueno said it was full of rust. When can we see pics.

AIROCOBRA

Ok , Bottom line is that the rust is not as bad as I invisaged ( every one has a different perspective to the term --- bad rust ). But I still intend to reshell it ( as I have a staight, no rust shell ) . So the car has had it's rust areas treated and sealed and after several projects in front are completed then it will be rebuilt as an ( AUST) Trueno.

Here is the rust before treatment.

OH! Not pictured and as usual , the Hatch is total crap ---- they nearly always are --- but I have a couple of good spares . Also this shell will be FIXED , lightened and prepared as a spare race shell .

In WW2 they would have classified it as CAT 2 medium FLAK damage .:DD
