Hey girls,

I've been slack about posting threads for all my old rides because lazy. But still, I'm actually putting effort into this one so thought it deserved a thread.

A long time ago, I had a few rad Ke70's with 4k's. After loosing all my points and going on Good behavior, whilst on my P's, I decided to get a more "daily" friendly car. I had a set of 15x9 -27 and 15x9.5 -20 SSR Fins in mint condish I swapped for this Ra65 while I could part out the old Ke70 to help fund the 65 and donate some cool bits.

Has 22R, IRS, pop up's (y) and a sloppy W55. No rust except a few minor bubbles, mint interior and shitty wheels. Before it even got registered I picked up S13 turbo front end for $50, Cusco strut brace and nissan>Toyota brake lines from xsoarerx for $70 and coilovers from JDM Garage for $350. Chucked them in over a weekend, put in HID's, stereo and a sub for wank factor (sub and amp were free so don't judge), HKS pod and ripped out a few unnecessary items from the engine bay to clean it up.

When it gets registered in a few days ill put Falcon springs and commo shocks in rear and sussy should keep me happy for a while. Just want to get it low down and clean looking. Sold most of my wheels so now I don't have any other choice but to use 15x7 Volk meshies up front and 14x7 SSR Focus Racings out back till I find a cheap set of wheels (ma61's mayb).

Its my first EFI car so I'm looking to do a few things to the motor like tweaking the computer or do some shit to the afm (I have no Idea what to do ehhuehuehuehue). Info?

heres a pic dump xo

Since last time I posted it got rego, more low, better/less shit rims and a bath. Although yesterday went for a slide (feels weird being able to get sideways in the dry now :sunnies:) all went well until mid drift the exhaust fell off... Took it to my mate at A1 exhaust today and welded me up a new one with extra cuteness. Tomorrow I'm trimming my door cards in Bride material, got some spare 13 front coilovers for free to see if I can jimmy up a rear adjustable spring perch and spring deal with them since s13 rear coilovers won't work..

http://i42.tinypic.com/1ic0ep.jpg
Only decent pic I took.

wagonlife

Anyone have a spare Ma61 Supra roof wing or even a Celica sunshade? Also after side trims :(

wagonlife
25th September 2013, 07:58 PM
Got a new dildo and hang ring from Japan today, just waiting on the Nardi and Hello kitty rear view mirror to arrive from Japland.
http://i40.tinypic.com/nq5mgw.jpg

Also new wheels. 15x8 steelies, I always run legit wheels but need something bigger to fill these guards and to accommodate wider tyre sizes till my custom widened 14x8 and 14x9 Bluebrid steelies are made. Although even with S13 front sussy, R31 arms and maxed camber tops, the 8J's still poke about an inch at the front..
http://i41.tinypic.com/2elyvbl.jpg

Although, on the run to Brisbane to pick them up we ran into some problems.. Rock was caught behind the rock guard on the brake disc ironically, there was more oil on the outside of the motor than inside it, halfway to Bris it began the wobbles like all the wheels weights fell off. Wasn't a fun drive back with the vibrations. Turns out the R31 LCA balljoints are kaput. Big time. Luckily the wheels didn't fall off................... Took rims off today to put steelies on, front tires looked like motor bike tires that have seen a few burnouts. Wouldn't of went to Bris if I knew I had all this in store.
http://i39.tinypic.com/j17khf.jpg
Pic doesn't clearly show the immense ballon of the tyre..

Decided to put an Sr20 in it early next year when I get all my points back. Which will give me time to get parts together and half build the Sr so when it goes in it should bake 2nd hurhur.

Also got some TRD blue shocks on a boat from Japan with my name on them and picking up an old school bride this weekend to bolt in when I head to the track. Didn't dig my Vios III, didn't suit the car

Was raining last night so went out for a bit of streeting. Went the back roads to my mates house to pick him up. Got sideways awesomely, except when it didn't it would just spin one wheel in 2nd out to 110. Got to my mates house and noticed steam pouring out of the radiator overflow tube. No water in the system. So either a fucked thermostat just boiling the water to nothing (hence no water) or a fucked head gasket. Chemiweld and a new thermostat should hopefully fix it. If not 7m conversion. Anyone done one?

Spoke to the original owner of the Celica. Turns out it was a bigger skid pig back in the day then it was today.. Had choppies and a 2 way, except the guy he sold it to took out the 2 way and put in a standard diff *sadface*. Here's some pics he sent me for lols.http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/514885.jpghttp://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/514886.jpg

In light of its recently discovered shitty past life, its had its motor rebuilt a few thousand K's ago.. Which brings me to my next point. I'm after a mini spool for the F series. Is it worth ringing up a diff shop and asking for a mini spool for an F series diff or will they not know what you're talking about..

marvis
20th November 2013, 06:23 PM
Sell me the bride!?

You shouldn't need castor rods, just get nolthane bushes. It's all I've ever used. Plenty of adjustment.

Has the supra LSD been shimmed? I run one in my z10 and it's ok. Shimmed springs and plates. They don't like power though.

If you need an alignment hit me up, I could probably do one in Ipswich @ Goodyear before QR, always willing to help out a 80's toyota enthusiast.

wagonlife
20th November 2013, 06:42 PM
Brides a bit ratty. Was going to retrim centre cushions in Leopoldo print, but I'll see when I get it if I'll keep or flag.

Nolathane bushes ordered.

I'll go out next Friday night and see how current alignment goes, had a few rainy nights lately so its felt a bit better around the wet industrial estates than in the dry, so it might hold up fine -^

marvis
20th November 2013, 08:10 PM

If you haven't, it will most likely be way out.

wagonlife
20th November 2013, 08:12 PM

Stripped interior, got rid of the rest of the sound deadening, replaced old HKS filter with genuine filter, got rid of aircon, some EGR and spent 3 hours scrubbing and cleaning engine bay, tinted headlights purple, put purple HID bulbs in, lowered front an inch, put 10mm spacers on rear, gave it a wash and put some moar stickers on. So the cars dead. Blown head gasket and god knows what else went wrong. Ripping motor out Saturday and hopefully next week Ke Conversions will have finished my Sr20 mount kit. While motors out ill fill all holes and dints in engine bay and spray it probably glitter purple or silver. Ill buy a half cut when money resupplies.

Swapped my pair of 14x8 -12 Mk1's for my old set of mint 14x7 -0's, which I'm trying to sell to fund SR. And sold my front 15x7.5 +18 to a mate. 15x10 -40 Mk1's will be here today or tomorrow, and picking up 15x8 -13 Mk1's next Friday. Also picking up dint and rust free front guards that have been professionally pumped to take 9's, so my 8's with camber and R31 LCA's should make it fit nice.

Haven't updated this in a while, lots of progress done.

Took motor/gearbox out, Stripped everything out of the bay I don't need (aircon, heater, power steer, wiper motor and wiper assembly, battery and its metal seat, shaved all unused holes and seams, removed and shaved all riveted on plates, took out carpet and sound deadening, wiring loom out to make way for custom loom for SR, bought and mounted matching passenger Bride, bought 350mm Nardi black classic, Nardi boss kit, hydro handbrake, jap underspoiler (Y), side skirts (Y), replacement mint front guards and door, shaved rear wiper, aerial, boot lock, fuel lid lock, all trim strips removed and shaved, floor painted Ironlak Tiffany's blue, strobe Parker lights installed, bought 15x8 -13 and 15x10 -40 SSR MK1's, slight guard roll and they sit perfect, put a Jap TRD banner on that covers half the front window. Missed heaps of other things but my thumbs hurt from writing so much.

Hey y'all.

As per my usual long time between updates, I've remembered to come on and update the 2 people that care how I'm going on my maiden engine conversion. I'm doing it 100% all by my lonesome, and for a Kindy teacher I think I'm doing half alright for figuring out stuff by myself (with the odd Google and stupid FB question here and there). Only help I've had is sending bits off to get painted which a few different mates who work in the biz have helped me out with and have cut wicked deals for me on everything. Other then that all me, I've been offered heaps of times for mates to come around and help me get through my job list buy I've declined as I feel I need to finish the car all by myself, so I can feel a better sense of accomplishment and more attached to the car.

In between now and the last update I've..

Got a low K's Sr20de, put new genuine gaskets through it, bought a genuine Greddy sump, deleted emissions garbage, got rocker cover and strut brace ends painted all fancy Peck spec, genuine retro HKS intake and AFM adapter and put a genuine HKS filter in with a lobster back intake pipe, MINE's ECU, purple alloy pulleys, HKS headers and gave the motor a good cleaning. I scored a low K's tight Det gearbox with Nismo arm as well as a track day old NPC button clutch and lightened flywheel. Got a new oem slave, custom clutch line from Nissan to Toyota, wilwood brake master and a purple booster delete plate, wilwood bias adjuster, dry cell battery in box sitting behind passenger seat, VL Turbo fuel pump, brand new John Deere (yes the tractors) volt meter and water temp gauges, got the headlight covers, grille, A pillar trims, number plate garnish and side mirrors painted gloss black with gold pearl and heavy holographic flake, and some other shit. Just waiting on castor arm brackets (which I had a brace welded on ) and sway bar back from paint then the car goes in to get its bay painted either light gray or silver with heavy flake, then I can put motor in for last time, send it off to get a tailshaft done, send it to brake shop to plumb up brakes and hydro, then to an auto electrician and wire it up and it should be ready to slide. Then loan out for paint and graphics.

Talk to you women in another 6 months.

Bay painted last night, and took the car to a gab shop to get fuel tank and rear floor cut out to be tubed and a sheet metal floor put in ready for fuel cell, getting door handles and fuel lid shaved, handbrake hole welded up to mount hydro, custom seat brackets for my brides so your bum is on the floor, I'm tall and with a helmet my head hits the roof with the lowest rail I could find without the cage bolted in. And some more bracing work for the chassis. So next weekend I'll be putting the motor in at his shop so he can start lobster back intake pipe and 2 1/2 exhaust

It's fuel flap and aerial hole deleted and is 99% perfect, just requires a light skim of filler. Also has already had the boot cut out, braced and sheet meteledd ready for fuel system. ALSO getting factory handbrake hole shut so I can mount my hydro. ALSO getting custom seat mounts welded to the floor so your ass is on the ground. ALSO getting battery box a nice metal brackety clampy thing because I don't trust the plastic and ribbon they gave me to tie it down.

Went to the Toowoomba Swap Meet today and bought a brand new genuine Sard FPR for $20, SR silicone coolant lines for $30 and genuine unused SR Greddy radiator cap for $5. And just waiting on payday to buy a small fuel cell then everything's there ready to be hooked up. KEEN!

Sold my passenger Zeta to run my Brix as a passo. Much better looking seats and friendly for all bottom sizes, plus I was having trouble making the passenger Zeta work. Need to raise up the back of the gearbox like 50mm. The Ke Conversions kit is weird and puts gearbox and motor on a massive angle and motor hits firewall, so hopefully spacing the gearbox works.. Then hopefully next week it'll go to get wired up

Mounted S13 radiator, redid the alloy mounts on the Holfords thermo shroud, bolted up Wilwood brake master and booster delete plate by Ben himself, customized clutch master to make more room for SR mani, all fuel lines are run, fuel system is all plumbed up and some other little things.

Tomorrow I'll make a gearbox spacer to tilt motor away from firewall, take all the shit out of the interior, give it a clean, mount brides for last time, make a fuse/relay panel in glovebox to give autoleccy something to work with, and pre mount some switches on the dash. And whatever else I think of.

Most excited that he said he could get the headlights to flip up on the headlight switch, since I removed all the original wiring I was going to manually wind up each light when I needed them and have the lights on a switch, so I'm super happy. Also picked up a Supra digi dash so he's making that work with the motor. Well scored big today.

Long story short, got a HKS oil filter relo kit for $20.

Long story long, mate bought a second hand HKS oil kit for his worked turbo 180, but doesn't have mechanical know how or time to put it on, so ordered some eBay fittings and lines (-_-) and gave it to a full time boilermaker who has a retarded "race" engine Facebook business (which is all talk saying he's done it all and can't actually do anything). The guy didn't check just how shit the fittings were before putting them on, I am a kindergarten teacher, and I guessed his oil leak problems were caused by cheap fittings before even laying eyes on them, and he's a so called professional.

Here are the fittings in question compared to a speedflow fitting http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/13/612b56c9f91ec4228258003d3e762f04.jpg As you can see the taper is half as long as the Speedflows, and the thread runs all the way to the top instead of having a gap like all good fittings. Which also made the last thread gouge a deep groove into the fittings he put on. Then oil started leaking from everywhere in his bay and wondered why. Took it back to old mate, old mate blamed in on shit quality fittings, didn't even realize how bad the silver ones were, not that I expect him to know what he's doing, then got my mate to buy decent ones for $130 and put them back on, which fucked those completely and still leaked.

Also, he used thread tape on the AN fittings. That's how stupid this guy is and apparently he's a race engine builder.. Can't believe how clueless and dodgy people are.

So that's how I got it for $20. He just gave up on having any external oil gear. I have an FC oil cooler with AN fittings welded on ready to be mounted where number plate sits. I'll be using Proflow fittings, lines and inline oil filters as everything in my car is basically out of the Proflow catalogue.

Busted out the camera today. It's been a loooooong time since I've updated, and I've done a heap of things to the car and bought a heap more. Mostly, I've gotten a JDM Celica XX rear bar, inverted fibreglass hatch, Cusco castor rods, Yashio Factory radiator hoses, alloy rad, 2.5" straight through SS exhaust with meter long blast pipes, tailshaft is being made, bought a set of JDM XX Celica badges (mother of rare) and heaps of other bits. It's been a very long and expensive process but I'm getting near the end of it. All it needs is paint and a tune!I might do a full spec list in the next few days, mind you, it will take a few days to write a full spec list lololololololol.

Anyway, my super awesome cool lovely rear hatch arrived. I can easily pick it up with one hand, compared to the two people it took to lift the old hatch. AND I fitted my JDM Celica XX rear bar which took some cutting and lots of drilling but it's mounted and is worth every cent I spent on it, also got TRD XX skirts on. My super rare XX badges should arrive this week.

Sat in my car for a week, got motivated for a shed skid and street drive, so went to put it in and realized it's 20cm too long LOLOL. Gave the guy the wrong measurments.. Dropped it off a week ago to get shortened so hopefully it'll be done friday for me.

Also got some XX gear in the mail, badges and mirror deletes, although the deletes are for Johnzoku :( Also played with some carbon fibre in the cabin to neaten up some of the trims I don't need and stuff. So here's a big random pic dump. . 359493595035951359523595335954

Stupidity Pt.2.....

So, after getting the tailshaft back from being shortened after I gave the guy the wrong measurements, I went to put the new shiny expensive tailshaft in, and for the life of me couldnt get it to slide into the box.... Was pretty pissed off/worried I stuffed up again and would have to pay to have it fixed.. Took it back the the shop, told him my beef, and he quickly counted the teeth on the spline. When I had it made I said down the track the car will have around 300hp turbo'd and he said the stock uni's wouldn't handle it well, and they weren't rebuildable, so he ordered a lot of one off parts and machined most of said parts to get them to work so the tailshaft could handle 450hp "forever". In saying that, the spline had 3 too many teeth. So luckily I didn't fuck up lol. So He ordered a new correct spline and the new new tailshaft will be ready Tuesday

Probably.

So here's some pics of before and after. 35986359873598835989
Had a slow weekend on the car the past few days though, was helping a mate paint his S13's bay and some other dirty Nissan stuff, so only had a few hours Sunday arvo to neaten a few things here and there. Took jap bar off to grind back all the rust and paint from where I cut original bar bracket off and drilled new holes for the jap bar and painted in rust proof paint. In the bay I took some heat tape (Picked up like 15 meters off the stuff from Mitre 10 for $10 which is awesome stuff and an awesome product) and closed off the gaps between the radiator and the radiator support. Turned out very well. I might buy a sheet of thin alloy next weekend and try and make a cooling panel for the front, or even lexan might be cool..3599035991

Took the car for it's first drive. Everything felt great, execpt the steering. The clutch felt super aggressive, motor ran awesome and revved hard, hardly any vibrations through solid gearbox mount and stiffened custom mounts.

Steering however was as heavy as a something thats really heavy. I knew it would be bad since it's a depowered rack, but it was super tricky with new semi slick steerers and a locker. So I quickly decided to defs go manual steer, which is handy because I picked up two manual celica racks the week before. spent today going to brisbane again to pick up some brackets for the rack and a MK3 supra intermediate shaft. Although I spent a long time trying to remove the shafts, all to no avail. I'll have a better try tomorrow. Then I'll wait till new super pro rack bushes and my S13 rosejointed tie rods to arrive then chuck it all in and should feel better to steer with.

Sorry for boring pictureless post.

1st November 2015, 08:06 PM
Small update. Finished previously mentioned manual steer conversion. Put the steering back together to get the car rolling agian. Just waiting on knuckles and new coilovers before it's finished suspension wise. Also might notch the LCA's as the only thing stopping more lock is the tie rod hitting the LCA, even though it has HEAPS of lock currently thanks to S13 front and lock spacers.

Also nearly finished the centre console. Just waiting on another carbon fiber sheet to arrive to cover the original shifter hole. I bought fluro pink perspex to do the job but it looked orange. Also interiors finished. Just need to buy passenger Brix and maybe some Yashio Factory harnesses depending how rich future Lachlan is.

Also sent Hatch and rear bar off to my mate to get them straight and ready for paint, which was a big job for the hatch which came out of a very shitty mould.

Won't be any major progress for a while, put a deposit on some MINT original 15x10 -40 SSR MKII's, then after they're paid for paint will happen, then coilovers and then I'm sure something expensive will pop up. Here's a pic dump. 36189361903619136192361933619436195361993620036201 36202361963619736198

All coming together really well man, mk2's will really set it off. Why not run a bit more stretch up front?

It's on 195 semi slicks ATM and really don't want to go any smaller. But I'm currently looking for some 15x9 -0 MK2 steerers, they'll sit the same as my 8 -13's, but will have more stretch solving all my problems. So I can slam the front and go lower in the rear. Plus I'm sick of polishing MK1's and getting nicks in the faces just by looking at them.

Picked up complete front end for $150. I needed a new bonnet and mint front bar and lip so I'm happy. Paint mid December!http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/08/39e2605be877e7a943b4aed52e928e6d.jpg
