Hello Everyone,

Joel here, dropping in to say hello. I'm in Sydney NSW til next friday, and am hoping to score a few 4AGE/AE86 goodies.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/3/4/6/514181.jpg

here's my 82 starlet, named MeJulie. I'm in the midst of a boosted 4AGE build now, shooting for around 300whp.

As you were...

Oh yeah, what's the Japanese car scene like there? Many old Toyotas? Do you get hassled by the police for having modifications?

Do you mind me asking what line of work bough you to Australia?

21 questions mate! Hahah!

Any more pictures of the KP?

ah no problem at all! The japanese car scene in south florida is going strong. Lots of well built Evos and Sti's, the GT86 (we have the Subaru BRZ and scion FRS) is becoming more popular. There's a fair share of old toyotas, but most of them are imported from california. My starlet came from out there as well. Florida is one of those states that is extremely easy to have a modified car in. No state inspection, no safety inspection, no emissions inspection. Basically, if you don't act like an asshole, get caught hanging out at street races, etc, you can pretty much get away with straight murder. I'm here to do a stabilizer rebuild on a private yacht called Pacific. My company is one of the larger manufacturers of stabilizers for private and military vessel stabilization systems.

if you have instagram, you can follow me, @sammakkoracing

in the mean time i'll try to dig up some more pix of the starlet. :D

Nice mate looks good! They actually make an 86 look like a large-ish car.

300hp in a starlet? Fuck.

Keep the pics coming. I wish we had starlets in aus. Even with a large port 4ag, they will still be quick!
All that car needs is some 13x9 hayashi streets

it's tough to get good tires in a 13" in the US. i took off a set of 13" Panasports when i bought the car, simply because i couldn't get a tire that i could trust in the corners/rain. i'm hoping to find a nice set of 15X8's that i can run a hankook 225 45 15 RS3 on.

also, where i'm from, i'll never have a fast starlet. . these guys will always have me beat!

I moved up to Seattle 3 years ago, but I do still have the car. I'm in the middle of a high compression smallport 4AGE on boost build. Had a kid recently so progress is at a crawl lol. Let's see your kp!

The only 13" wide rubber I can find is the VITOUR FORMULA in 225/50/13 and 205/55/13
There are some others, but they are both "race only" and 4 to 5 times the cost.

After a 6 year search, I found this one that had an all steel "wide" body and a 4A-GE already installed. (not very professionally)
The transmission was very crunchy and the fuel was 8 years old. The brakes were also non operational. Also from sitting and it took me a few months to source the parts I needed just to get it on the road, The master cylinder booster was the most difficult part to locate.
It also had a non complete/non functional wire harness. Neither KP61 or AE86. But some kind of mongrel. So I had to make my own wiring for the fuel gauge, speedo, Tach, temp, wipers, blinkers, horn.....etc.
It hasn't been particularly fun yet. But it is street legal now.
Sorry to hijack this thread and sorry that I can't upload other photos. I have lots of updated pictures. (The one I used is one that the seller sent to me.)
Like I stated earlier, if you Email me, I'll send along a few better photos.
Ed
