GTS flares are different to the MA61 flares. MA61 flares flatten out at the top where as the GTS are a continuous curve.

I've got 185/60R14, which is the same rolling diameter as a 195/50R15 and it still looks decent at 105mm. Food for thought.

I think Taylor runs 195/50R15 front and 185/55R15 rear on his.

Jacobxxx
13th January 2014, 08:56 PM
Ill throw up a WTB for trd blue non short stroke, someone might have some laying around, i have some KYB AE86 shocks here i can throw in for the meantime

marvis
14th January 2014, 12:23 AM
Under 100mm will be fine for shorts. I had some in the celica and in the supra. In the soarer they had no droop, too short.

Konakid
14th January 2014, 07:20 PM
I got STD length trd blue in my corona IRS rear end and they have about 45mm droop (not really enough but its ok) at about 50mm lowered.

Jacobxxx
19th January 2014, 02:11 PM
Bought some standard length TRD blue should be here this week, waiting on my BC's too. Went AE86 V1 since it's still only a daily and i don't want too stiff plus will go with my 6kg BC rear spring and height adjusters

Looks good dude, could easily die grind out another 10mm of adjustment in those camber tops though, you know that you should

Seventy
26th January 2014, 05:24 PM
Just get xT13x / RA40 / KE30 LCA for more camber....

drift kid
26th January 2014, 10:51 PM
Just get xT13x / RA40 / KE30 LCA for more camber....

But the issue isn't needing more track, it's needing to bring the top of the wheel in to clear the guard better, two different types of camber

Seventy
27th January 2014, 02:42 AM
Ah right, yeah I wasnt even thinking about the guards, thought he just wanted to look cool haha

Jacobxxx
27th January 2014, 09:40 AM
10mm doesn't seem enough
Might do ncrcas

drift kid
27th January 2014, 10:18 AM
But ncrca will still give you camber in the wrong place, don't you want to bring the top in? Not the bottom outwards?

Jacobxxx
27th January 2014, 11:25 AM
That's a valid point.

I would have thought it'd camber more than what it has anyway?
I guess I could drill my tops further toward the motor?

drift kid
27th January 2014, 12:44 PM
Yeah that is the other option, I just didn't think you'd want to drill your towers out too much, it's not hard to die grind out your camber tops, just grab a sharpie and draw on how far you can go and take them out, die grind, then enjoy your new found clearance and awsomeness ;)

Jacobxxx
27th January 2014, 05:49 PM
Yeah that might be the way to go

Put BC 6kg Rear AE86 Springs in today, TRD Blues should get here this week some time. Rain needs to go away so i can be bothered cutting out front guards to lower more and get some more tyres for centrelines

drift kid

Nah, the problem lies in the quality. They just pop and cover the coolant system internals in wax. I think I cooked three of them before going genuine. I think they cost the same as a Tridon one anyway.

Picked up that parts RA60 last night, that was an experience haha.

Is everything the same between ra60/ra65 except for tailshaft?

WTB Manual RA65 Tailshaft

LittleRedSpirit
28th February 2014, 10:45 AM
60 series equals live rear, 63-65 series equals irs, I thought. Your 65 will already have the F series irs system, but the 60 will have a T series live diff.

I dare say everything forwards of the tailshaft will be a bolt in job. Kind of envious of the manual conversion, however my auto is in such good order it would be a shame to bin it with low miles on it. Plus I can drive around, eating drinking and just generally in a more relaxed state which is great when you only feature 2 points on your license.

Jacobxxx
28th February 2014, 11:04 AM
Yeah that's what i meant just with less words haha.

I have been thinking how good auto life has been, could chop off one of my legs and still get around, it is a bit shit sometimes though, cold mornings (i've only owned in summer so winter will be worse i imagine) overdrive doesn't work until car is pretty warm so like after 5 minutes worth of driving the over drive gear will actually work. Sucks doing 100 and revving to 3500.

422,000 Ks the auto box has had a good life!

KurtHS
28th February 2014, 01:43 PM

Man im lazy at updates

long story short

Got some motivation and converted this sweet SOB to manual
Ra60 everything conversion related, pedalbox, gearbox, flywheel.
Clutch Industries HD Clutch and pressure plate
New spigot bearing
Locked the diff
Went pretty smooth aside from not knowing the clutch pedal is separate unlike a ke70 (didn't realise until AFTER i'd pulled pedal box out of my car) and assuming that the Neutral Start Switch is located in the car same as ke70, wrong, its on the gearbox. I found the two wires up near the starter motor and clipped them together. Probably ended up a bit tidier than what most people do when they loop the wires on the box.

Really fun to drive now

Did a QR Morning Session, super impressed with how it skids for a dead stock 22re. Drove up and drove home #streetregolife
Needs more lock, standard knuckles leave a lot to be desired, but other than that used one pair of tyres the whole day

Konakid

Beams the thing, needs the extra torque! Reckon you will be really dissapointed with a 4age especially for skids.

Jacobxxx

now I dunooooooooooooooo, don't wanna spend beams cash on it. Need shit done on the cheaps haha. Figured 20v and 4:556 I have would be fun.

Jimmee1990
1st July 2014, 06:40 PM
Any 4AGE won't have enough torque, will be way slower. 22R's go pretty well with decent extractors, exhaust, a little porting and a decent cam and springs and all of this is all insanely cheap out of the US too. Would be way more expensive to get the same from a 20v.

1st July 2014, 09:37 PM
BEAMS honestly aren't that hard of a task really.. You have all the EFI gear and W box.. Cooling system, wiring you have do do regardless.. Run quads if you want, but not essential.. Crossmember should be easy.. Most of the screwing around to do for a 20v you will probably end up doing anyway, so may as well put a beams in, with the 4.5's or even better 4.7's and just be done with it..

Jacobxxx
2nd July 2014, 12:17 PM
Yeah but like
$1800 motor vs $500 motor.

Cooling system i'd just run it like my old 20v was, factory with extended pipes to front, rear mount dizzy still. etc etc. Lazy man way.

beams is like:
Modded sump $?
Engine $1300- $1800
Wiring $600
Clutch/flywheel $800-$1000
Headers $400
Mounts $200

$3k all things going smoothly

20v:
Motor $550
Clutch $200
Comes with flywheel $0
Adapter plate for 4a to Wx $400
Wiring $600
Mounting $200?

$1950 going smoothly.

yeah beams seems like a smarter option now, should only be like $1000 more

Konakid
