Hey guys/girls,

Have been watching over 86DC for a while now and thought I'd pop up what I've done/got so far on my KE70 and a few plans for the future. Plus i thought it would also be a good way to get some good advice & idea's from everyone else on here.

So plans for the rolla are:

1. 4agze converted over to a 4agte, would be happy with 230+rwhp
2. W58 gearbox
3. Hilux diff assembly with disc brake for hydro h-brake
4. Coil overs, 86 p/s arms, adjustable/upgraded rear arms, big front brake upgrade
5. Roll cage
6. Keep it some what of a grandma looking car to keep away from cop attention plus it has to be my daily

So I bought the car about a year ago and have just slowly started gathering bits and piece's and making decisions on what i'm going to do/ run and so forth. Here is a few photo's of when i first got it and and a few photo's of what i have gathered so far.

This is it the first drive home from the Gold Coast

A few months later i had lowered it (cut springs), thrown some roof racks on, some weather shields and a tow bar to tow my jetski
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/523977.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/1dbb2590-01ff-41a7-b200-18c833d922ed_zps21d063fa.png.html)

So i got my hands on a Ae82 that had a 4agze smallport MAP sensor motor in it with a genuine 115,000kms. So i pulled it out to get ready for some more mods
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/523978.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/fb89f7ae-f154-4548-8ed1-796693e95f28_zps4c74107a.png.html)

I then stripped it down and gave it an oven cleaner hit and it came up a treat.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/523979.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/16e7fdf6-8dd1-4c8e-bfff-123ad44e2bd1_zps84eb3cd8.png.html)

I then gave it a good hit with black engine heat proof paint and welded a return bung for the oil feed while i had the sump off and also prepared the surface of the block
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/523980.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/3e23d119-1bca-4b49-b7e1-f6eccc059b80_zps9b4091b3.png.html)

I had the head sent away to be pressure/cracked tested and it all came up good as gold. I then thought while I've got it off i might as well get the machine shop to give it a port and polish to gain those few killawasps. I put it all back together with ARP head studs, Cometic head gasket, full seal kit, water pump, timing belt & tensioner, rear main seal and so forth.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/523981.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/1bf14f8d-ce37-4c02-8018-0619626df6d6_zpsa68001e4.png.html)

I then brang the engine home and started to collect other items.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/523982.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/IMG_5896_zpsfe01a3d5.jpg.html)

So after a while my pile of bits has grown but still need a lot more before i even think of installing anything yet. So far i have: Hilux housing with Ke mounts, W58 gearbox with adapter bell housing, NPC H/D clutch to suite, Ae71 cross-member, Ae71 pedal box, new engine/g-box mounts, blacktop ITB's, K&N 3" filter, GTX2867R turbo with 12psi actuator, 3" S/S mandrel bends for the exhaust and intercooler piping, 3" S/S hotdog & 3" VAREX muffler, also have some smaller S/S bends as i'm running a split dump and a S/S flexi-joint, eBoost 2 boost controller, TurboSmart FPR, RCA's and still waiting on my 6Boost exhuast manifold to turn up.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/523983.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/IMG_5901_zpsfc82212b.jpg.html)

So that's all so far but have a long way to go before i get installing parts. My plan it to have it all finished up before the end of the year, fingers crossed.

Hope to keep you all updated when i start getting more parts and fitting them up.

Cheers joeschmo_57, going to pick up my 6boost manifold tomorrow so will post a few pics of it then. Just got myself a set of front ae86 hubs that i can now clean up, paint, new bearings/grease and get ready for big brakes and coil overs

Sorry for not putting a photo of the manifold yet, its in the process of being welded! I should finally have it either tomorrow or wednesday after an 8 month wait! Yewwww. WA_TRD_83 im not 100% sure how many coils i cut out, i just slowly took them out until i was happy with it. Id like to take a little bit more off the front but dont think ill bother. Im puting it on the hoist this saturday so i could take a few photo's of each coil and send them to you, which will give some sort of indication on how many have been cut off. I did them all while still in the car, just have to becareful with the front and half handy with a 4" grinder.

Hey guys, my 6boost manifold finally arrived today! Super happy with the quality and how well everything fits up. Here is a photo with it bolted up to the motor and the turbo bolted down as well.

Hey guys/girls,

Also I'm not sure if this is the correct place to be asking this but would anyone have the standard rear control arm lengths from centre of the bolt holes on an upper & lower arm? Only reason i ask this is I've put after market T3 style (not T3 arms) in my corolla and they have flogged out already so I'm going to make my own out of chromoly tubing. If anyone has these lengths or even arms i could borrow/have (if your going to bin yours) so i can take the dimensions from them.

Cheers
Fletcher

Hey mate,

By flogged out do you mean the rose joints are fubar? Or are the arms bent? maybe a combination of the two?
How long they been installed for?

Raziel (http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/member.php/16656-Raziel) have no idea what your on about, maybe post what ever your question is in Tech section

Futo_86, yeah you are right, the rose joints have flogged out (1-2 mm up & down movement) & they make a hell of a noise when accelerating, even when i get to around 100 km/hr they start to bang. The arms them selves are solidly built & would be pretty hard to bend. Just thought i'd go back to basics & use super pro bushes as they are a lot stiffer than standard bushes but just allow a little bit of dampening to happen without to much flex. I was thinking chromoly tubing would be best as its super strong but light at the same time.

Your a gamier man then me.
If you have to drive it, take it real easy until they fixed.

Road grime, what I refer to as fine wet dirt, can destroy these joints rather quickly.
Some rose joints claim to "self clean".
Safest option is going back to a rubber bush.
Or new better quality rose joints with some kind of rubber cover to shield them from any shit getting in between telfon and the metal surface.
http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5039.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xro se+joint+cover&_nkw=rose+joint+cover&_sacat=0&_from=R40

If you dead set on ditching the ones you have, I'm willing to have a go at rebuilding them with new rose joints and covers.
Let me know how much you want I'll come over and buy them.

haha, they have been like this for some time and have done probably 2,000kms most being on 100 km/hr and haven't gotten worse as such. I'm very keen on getting rid of them making my own with a bush set up as ill be running a hilux diff so don't want them to be a "problem" as such. I paid $400 out of america so if you were keen to buy them id be more than happy to sell them to you. Pm me your number and ill take a few photo's of them to send to you.

Been doing a little bit of work buying and selling a few new parts to get my build moving along a little bit. Here are some photo's of my newest progress.

Bought a new shifter from SAM and can't say 1 thing bad about it, absolutely loving the quality of the product.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/524980.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/IMG_6191_zps188a8fd8.jpg.html)

Finally came across a drivers side engine mount block bracket and painted everything up and put my cross member up and bolted it all together
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/524981.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/IMG_6214_zpsb320da48.jpg.html)

Then painted my W58 gearbox and sorted the throw-out and clutch fork out. Had to buy a fork pivot ball from toyota as there wasn't one in it.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/524983.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/IMG_6216_zpsdca89397.jpg.html)

Pretty happy with how the paint came out. I've just been using the "engine heat proof" style paint in gloss black on everything.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/0/7/5/524984.jpg (http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/fletch_00/media/IMG_6217_zps829ced99.jpg.html)

Also got my hands on an AE86 manual steering rack and will be re-building it with all new parts plus ajps lengthened tie-rod ends ready to bolt to the crossmember. If anyone has any rack mounting brackets to suite the 86 rack ill buy them off you haha.
I have also been sorting out whether or not to sell my hilux housing that has the mounts converted to suit ke70/ae71/ae86 for $450 (the guy i bought it off said " have fun trying to brake it ") and buying another complete hilux diff assembly with all the axles/centre ready to start refreshing and then get someone to tack weld the conversion mounts on so i can weld them up. If anyone is interested in my Hilux housing PM me and i can give you more details on it.

Done a little bit of gear box test fitting this arvo on the back of the work ute. all bolts up nicely and starter should work all good.
