Just got to bleed brakes again tonight and test drive on the weekend. If all goes good I'll be booking my spot for the next drift night.

Towed this out to a remote area yesterday. Took it for it's first proper drive. Just drove casually at first to make sure everything was peachy. It was. Tried to get up it to see what she was made of but had a massive fuel/ignition cut at 6000rpm. Got a few things to check over that could be the cause of the problem. Won't be anything major, most likely a faulty sensor.

So took is for its first drift on Friday night. The car ran great, goes good, is fast and loud. Had a fuel leak issue before we started but sorted that, only other problem was a leaky clutch master cylinder which is probly just from old age. Couple things to do and ill be out early in the new year.

Saw this in the flesh today.

Its a sweet little rocket. Im very impressed with how the thing fits in a ke70. Its a nice compact engine compared to some, and its a good looking thing. Have you ever weighed it?

haveaparty
1st January 2015, 06:39 PM
Cheers man. Nah never had it weighed, would be aprox 950-1000 tho I would assume. I'll fix those couple things up and be out on the track soon

batmo
19th January 2015, 02:45 PM
Great build! I'm also retro fitting an engine to my KE70 and need to either space the cross member or cut n weld the sump. Notice any handling negatives with dropping the cross member 50mm? Did you also drop the lca 50mm?

haveaparty
19th January 2015, 06:50 PM
What engine and gearbox are u wanting to run? I fitted 50mm roll center adjusters so now the lca's sit level. Only driven it once but the steering and handeling seemed fine.

So I worked out probly most of the reason y I kept spinning out last drift session. This was my full lock with xt130 steering arms.

shortened 86 arms and extra lock spacers.

Going for some moo action. Test fitted and sump fouls on the front of the cross member so I'm either thinking of spacing it or worst case modding the sump which I'd rater avoid like the plague. Tube cross member is an option but a tad outside my current skill set with the wleder

haveaparty

Moo action? I'll have to be more specific then that lol. And u could always not the crossmember to make clearance.

Was being non specific for a reason. It's a V6 :(. Very conscious of this being a Jap oriented forum lol

haveaparty

Non jap v6, almost sounds like a commodore motor. Would that be about right? Lol. No one here judges u on anything u do. We all appriciate the work that goes into cars regardless. This isn't boostcruising.

so the drifts a couple weeks ago got cancelled as the track was flooded from heavy rain, so I thought I would start my matsuri prep, ordered a new clutch and fitted it last weekend. as I have never removed the gearbox from an f20c before it didn't go without dramas. plan was to leave the gearbox in the car and remove the motor, I couldn't split the two so the front got cut off to remove them both at once. after some fucking around I leant that the clutch fork needs to be released as they have a pull type clutch. spent about 11 hours last Saturday getting the new clutch in and the motor back in the car and running again. now I got to make a new front before this Friday so I can go drifting again. made a small start on this, will post up photos of this when im done.

exedy heavy duty clutch with more clamping pressure and a 6 puck clutch plate

here is a small edit from Friday night. car went into limp mode early in the evening, track was wet so thinking I may of sucked a bit of water through the intake. then ran out of fuel, so raced down to the servo to buy a jerry can and fill it. then the rest of the night was awesome.

Glad you ended up putting the driveline in a dunga body to enjoy now rather than a long term project

haveaparty
4th April 2015, 06:09 PM
Yeah I am too. Don't know y I didn't do it earlier lol. Was sort of a Sper of the moment decision too. Got home from work one Friday arvo and made the decision to put it into the Ke sedan. By Sunday arvo the f20 was out of the pano, 4k gear stripped out of the Ke and the f20 was bolted in. Took about 6 weeks from that first decision till the first drift night. Most of that time was spent waiting for the tailshaft to be built and fixing small problems with the motor.

Always the way with projects, where you look back and think omg why didn't i do this or that sooner. At least you are out there enjoying it now.

Honda f20 motors have become rather affordable in recent times.

Yes very affordable. Missed out on a cheap one last week.

So so sweet! What made everything so much quicker whit the sedan compared to putting it into the pano?

haveaparty
8th April 2015, 05:01 PM
The pano was supposed to be on the road so tried making everything legit, the sedan was easy because I had everything there to make it into what it is, and it's a drift car so didn't have to follow any legalities

I will stay a beater for the time being. I may reshell early next year for matsuri as i doubt my wagon will be any where near finished. I have thought about doing it now but cant be bothered atm. And wouldnt spend any more then $200 on another shell.

how come reshell into another shell then smash it up again? wouldnt it be worth your while to keep the smashed shell seeing its only rear half damage and car still drives strait then build up a tidy shell to put all the running gear into when you stop damaging shells. just seams like a waste of time.. seeing as your new shell has the exact same damage again..

neat conversion. though. how much did you pay for the motor and box? i can find any much cheaper than 5k. which isnt very affordable. i was considering running this motor in my ra23.

I didn't deliberately smash this shell up, just came in to hot into a corner and hit the wall. the old shell was well fuck anyway, besides the damage it didn't have much holding it together from all the rust it had. new shell was repaired, then had the boot floor cut out to make way for a flat floor and fuel cell, as it was rusty, new tail lamp panel and rear quarter section ready to weld on once the floor is complete. also getting a one piece tailshaft made. ordered some t3 parts to stiffen the rear up too, will all be ready to go by matsuri. hopefully sooner...

finished repairing and fitting new rear in this. went to matsuri, after breaking 2 diffs, fuel issues, spark issues, wiring issues, with a total track time of aprox 1 hour over the entire weekend, its in the naughty corner with its nose on the wall. brought another engine and car to build. will keep roughing it in this car until the other is built. I did however make it onto speed hunters, will upload some pics later maybe
