Just got this beast delivered on the weekend!

34734

It is a boring old 2S-C with some cut springs (I think; need to get this up on stands) and ruined shocks to say the least. There is seemingly only some rust on the left front guard bottom and a tiny bit on the cowl below the windshield.
5 speed manual that recently had a new clutch and master so it seems to be good from where I've driven up the driveway.

Chasing some parts for it so that I can get it registered as a cheap daily/cruiser in Brisbane which will be a whole new experience for me (getting it roadworthy and registered that is).

Hopefully do some small mods aesthetically and handling wise.

So, these turned up tonight. Might be a tad nicer than the stock hachi wheels.

Found some shocks in the shed last night when doing some moving around of boxes after the house move. Seems to be some GT Monroe's or something that I'm thinking that should fit on the rear.
Will try to get the 'rona in the air this weekend to really assess the suspension.

Life gets in the way and sometimes you don't get goals achieved. What I did achieve was to spend some more money on this. A greenback got me some lowered King Springs that *should* fit the front and a reco'd power steering rack with most lines and the pump.

Hopefully get a left guard for this before the weekend with no rust.

Parts are piling up between this and my other project, need to get some actual work going!

Also my have some XR4-s coming soon.

So, I'd collected parts for the rona and managed to get the front springs replaced pretty quick. Dirty hacked springs be gone!

Some XR-4's turned up and so I had to see how they looked. Just sitting on a brick in front of stock rims.

Managed to get two guards and a lower valance for $40 too!

No more rust on my left hand guard...

I reckon the wheels will look pretty good at 14x7 on the front and 14x8 on the rear

Although now I've found that the sill has a rust hole and is quite pitted...
<PLACEHOLDER4>

Might have to see if I can procure a welder and tack some tin on from the rusted (non rusted part) of the guard that came off.

Ass up face down, that's the way we like to fuck!

Had to get on ramps first so that my pitiful cylinder jack would fit under the rails to get high enough so that I could jack the diff up to remove the cut king springs.

Put some springs that I thought (sold to me as) meant to fit on the wagon rear but they are way to short and not near stiff enough. It sits just as low under compression as before. Would be OK if I didn't need to get a roadworthy on this first, might keep them to put back in sacked after getting this on the road.

Got someone whom may be able to post me some proper springs for the rear and then all I have to do is patch the rust on the sill and put the front panels all back on to be ready for roady.

Shitty night photo; what I'm aiming to do here is black out the window frames so that it blends with the rear side window black trims. Hopefully look a tad more streamlined.

Thanks for the encouragement! Wasn't sure anyone was interested in this sucker; mostly just been a brain/photodump spot at this point.

REGISTERED!

Didn't have a chance to get it out of the yard for a test drive last night. Final quick bolt check this arvo and then to the petrol station!

Took it for a drive on Saturday, tightened some of the bolts in the front end.
Went for another drive, gearbox is fucking noisy as shit. Need to get under it and check oil, I suspect there's next to none.

Engine seemed a little rattly. Checked dipstick after its few month sit... nigh on empty engine oil. Put 2 litres in cold, will top up again when oil has heated up after a drive.

Quickly lost it's appeal on this drive when it seemed to lose a tie rod rubber and scared the shit out of me thinking some bolts had come loose. Sort of knew the tie rods would've need doing and really should have done it when I did the springs but got lazy.

Now thinking that I'll be doing these things next:
- new tie rods
- new front strut inserts
- new rear shocks
- new gearbox oil
- inspect diff oil/maybe pull cover plate too
- brake service

Oh well, wouldn't really expect more of this car.

At least it's registered and an easy car to work on.

Stuck a left-over wheel on from a previous car. Boss kit fit perfectly and the inch less in wheel diameter helps me get in so much easier, being over 6 foot the poor old yota's sometimes feel cramped.

In the process of planning some important suspension part replacements for the front end.

Thanks man!
This was a good simple little project car and it runs fairly well. Looking as though I'll have to sell this though so that my poor Celica build gets some time and cash injection.
