I have pry'ed my lights and indicators apart before and fkk me you have to be carefull a heat gun works ok but its a bit of a task still.
I agree the standard lights are not the best thing.

I know with the mkIII supra's you can use nsx lights, surely there'd be something similar to that for the trueno

Wonder if this mod would work for ae82 lights also? They are dangerously bad.

And, here's a trueno with Raybrigs and random blueish bulbs on lowbeam

To my understanding, the Trueno just uses generic square shaped sealed beam headlights, the same as in thousands of comercial vehicles and other 80's cars with pop-up lights. So there are lots of upgrades available, the first option being a H4 conversion kit if it does not have that already.

There are less options for the Levin.

I just changed the whole head light to one from a ae82 or 92.. can't remmeber.. just had to modify the brackets.. ( cut and drill hole). only down side is the grill doesn't clip in.. Mines held in with zippy ties. :) but for an hour of my time and bugger all money it was totally worth it..

Must be the ae82 headlights wouldnt think the ae92 would have the same shape. I installed some hids yesti and there awesome on low beam
but horrible on high beam. If I can get a good set of halogens and upgraded reflectors I'll take the hids off.

Anyone used higher rating halogens in their ae86 I've upgraded my wiring harness to handle 130/90, 100/55, 100/90 just wanting to no if anyone has used anything higher then 60/55w in their headlight without melting the reflector or lense silicone

ae71
16th May 2010, 01:50 AM
i used to run 130/90 in my ke70 with standard wiring. would have been better with a relay setup but was good enough.

never had an issue. with any of it. was like it for roughly 2 years.

did it make much of difference compared to the oem 60/55 watts? Also did ur reflectors ever need replacing

Cheers

hey there kim. i think the best thing you can do is buy raybrig lense and do HID conversion also.

yes rx7,mr2,hiace most cars with popup lights and a lot of "comercial" type have the same lense.

a couple of quick questions
does anyone upgrade there wires when they install a hid kit and has anyone bought or heard of these guys cause it pretty cheap and i know its only for low beam but $100 for a kit
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/H4-6000K-XENON-HID-BULB-KIT-FOR-AE86-90-TOYOTA-COROLLA_W0QQitemZ370394772778QQcategoryZ42613QQcmd ZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI% 26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid %3D6851811633044914658

and does anyone know if these would fit the adm sprinter, just double checking cause they usually put ramdom car makes on there list or is it more of a driving lights not head lights
