Ok in preparation for some work I'm going to need done fairly soon I'm going ask where I should take my car to get a new exhaust done.

After having 3 separate systems done on my 86 since owning it and never been happy with the job.... I want to take it somewhere that actually '''listens''' to what I want and then '''does''' '''exactly''' what I want done. Not something in between, fuck its almost like you have to stand there and guide them through it just so it ends up been built the way you like. :shout::unseen::shout:

_unfortunately I don't know anyone in the exhaust trade so I cant do so..

Also has to be fair priced... I'll pay for good work, no problems there. So long as its what I ask for.
.................................................. ...........................

Please suggest some business's that you believe fit this criteria. Only experienced based opinions please.

cheers

yer i got my exhaust done by them.

cost me $550, for a high flow cat ($300 on its own), 2.25", resonator, and some high flow muffler.

i got it done over-diff and the bends are very well done.

men at work, are supposed to be very good too. my mate (rotary) got a dump pipe made, and a full exhaust, very nice work. costly though.

Men at work exhausts. (capalaba)

2.25" From extractors back under diff tucked up real nice, with muffler at the back plus a flange just before the diff so i can replace/take off the rear section for diff work

cost me fuck all :P

if you go there, hit me up on 0438169872 as i work 2 doors down.
You can come have a look at mine and even use it as a template? lol

NIZLAH

cool... I reckon my first port of call will be CES in meadowbrook though, which is just down the road from me and I will have to drive down with just extractors... don't like my chances of getting to Capalaba like this lol.....

Well I went and saw ol' mate at CES the other day for some discussing and a quote...

Props to him, very helpful and understanding of what I want/require....

but, the price, holy shit I was not expecting such a shock...!

Basically what I want is 2 1/4" mild steel pipe, mandrel bent from the extractors back, 1 resonator under the car, system under diff with a stainless rear muffler.... (the muffler is going to be custom sized to my measurements $300 for that... )

Im cool with that,
the rest of the system takes the total to $919 wtf... for mild steel pipe and a resonator, there is minimal bends also...

Don't get me wrong they seem like the right guys to do the job, but that is redonkulously priced in my eyes...

... lol... they are a LOT of coin :)a rad bunch of guys though and their stuff is well cool :)

prolly not a g worth of cool though! :)

NIZLAH
15th September 2009, 09:29 PM
yep that is it... seriously they seem really good to deal with and were happy to do what I had in mind but so much $$$ for such a simple system... the last mandrel bent system I got was basically the same, just had a straight through muffler under the car instead of a stainless one out the back and it only cost $450 (Carline mufflers in Sydney)

You could get a sweet Stainless Steel JDM System from HKS or the like for around $1K.

My latest exhaust was 3 Inch mandrel bent mild steel, dump back with a supplied CAT welded in the middle and a 3 Inch Semi-Straight through muffler and SS Tip. Whole lot came to $480 I think. Done by Cleveland Exhaust & Towbar.

Have heard many good things about Men @ Work, the system on mates RX7 is very nicely done. I would have used them but again not easy to get it there.

NIZLAH

Hmm that's quite true also.... I really don't even want to spend more than $5-600 though, will defiantly have to get some more quotes....

men @ work might be worth checking out.

Lee's Exhaust is no more. My housemate used to work there.

On that topic, My housemate welds up exhausts (being a Exhaust fitter for Lee's) from home. He will listen to what you want and also give recommendation's.

What exactly are you after? He can give you as pretty good price, I assure you.

If you want, add me on MSN - fat_gay_hippi@hotmail.com

Right Price Exhaust Moss St Slacks Creek, fast, big well setup shop, if you talk to the manager hell set you up with a fabricator whos interested in doing a good job. Cheap as chips too, if I wanted a press bent system the way i wanted it Id see them. My last 2.25 exhaust with resonator and one muffler from there cos only around $300 because I had my own magnaflow Cat which I bought for $135 from Tuffcarparts.com.au.

high flow, slight curve, almost a straight through (if you look through one end you can just see out the other) but a little less noisy. there's a cannon on the car atm and it gives me the shits... i also forgot to mention the system will be mandrel bent.

So just to re-spark this thread and show my disgust with Mild2WIld in Slacks Creek.........................

Avoid these fuckwits at all costs...

Long story shortened ---------->

2 weeks ago I took my daily (Audi A4) in to get a stainless muffler fitted that I supplied, nothing complicated etc.... Old mate said around 45mins so I went for a wander around Moss street and came back to watch him finishing up on the hoist still.... While standing there with my gf (they were unaware that I was there watching at this stage) Panic arose from the dude welding it up when he realised he set the car on fire on the inside of the boot, I stood in horror watching as he and his fuckin slow moving assistant struggled to open the boot and distinguish the flames... Upon that they noticed me standing there watching, and noticeably they were quite embarrassed, they called me over to suss out the damage, luckily it was minimal, just the left boot trim/rear plastic trim and floor carpet.
Now I was cool and accepted that these things happen and they were all good saying don't worry we will replace it all etc which is only fair... They took all the car details and said they would give me a call in a few days...
.....
........
.........
So no call from them I decided to go in and see what the go was today..
They all acted like they didn't know me and the manager had got some trims from 'a mate' the trims were completely different and covered in oil and grease stains (which mine weren't) and they kinda just stood there giving me the well sorry look.. I told them I'd go hit up the German wreckers in Rocklea and come back with a price if they had anything, went there and found one of the three things I needed ($20) So I then went to Unique Autosports to get a Price on new items for the other two pieces that they burnt (Waiting on a quote from them)

After this I went and saw the cockheads at Mild2Wild again to fill them in on what the go was only to have the manager turn around and tell me that he's not responsible for the damage and he's not going to pay to have my boot re-trimmed and its almost a 20yr old car blah blah and to come back with the price for the rest of the trim and said "I'll see how I feel"
I told him that's Bullshit, and it doesn't matter how old the car is or whatever its the fuckiin principle of the matter and left in anger with a very bad taste in my mouth..........

All I can say is go somewhere else that is willing to be held accountable for their fuck ups.....

yep definitely how I find most places........

Gonna have a mate do my exhaust now anyhow, the way I want it... and hopefully without setting the car on fire lol
