Got offered an Excedy 4-Puck, tossing up if I should get it, or just get another heavy duty. Got a light flywheel too, do you guys reckon a 4-puck would be heaps jerky? Wear on gearbox is inevitable either way

Only had Heavy Duty so wondering what to do...

    yeah no need for puck.

i run a 212 now, with a trd cover and normal organic full face disc and its great. hooks up good, cover is decent heavy so that helps with pedal feel.

most puck clutches arent really toooo bad to drive. but its driveline stress you dont need if youre not making the power.

re the os giken. ive had an os giken super single before. ridiculous. like so stupid. really quite dangerous to drive in traffic ect. very easy to stall even driving it every day... just done see the point. track only, with a really strong gearbox.. maybe.. but i hated sometimes.. sounds cool though.

    No i haven't due to:

Aaron shattered his clutch disc to pieces on an apparent "drift clutch" behind a mild 200rwkw rb20.

C1's just started randomly slipping on his 3t a few years ago and had glazed over after a year or two of use, still had 90% meat left on it.

heard a few others stories that i can't remember too.

The setup im getting is only 140 more to get an Exedy over Extreme so i thought why not.

not if ur using a Tree fiddy.

if u are using a W box then go your hardest. my blue car (in avatar) ran an exedy 5 puck with W box and 20V motor, loved it, gave it the biggest hiding possible while it was NA and then i turboed it and never had probs either

puck is helpful in under powered cars. i find they just kick a little harder to get things happening especially when there's heavy clutch work involved. is bad on the gearbox though

Anyone know the limitations of pressure plate thrust load that a 4age crank can withstand?

From what I have been told, some example pressure plate loads are:

    300kg standard
    600kg exedy
    800kg trd
1000kg modified trd pressure plate (custom item)

I have read of people going to 1200kg for drift, although I do not know if this is actually true.

I have yet to use my new clutch yet, but after talking at length with Western Clutch, we agreed either 800 or 1000kg would be the go. I went with 1000kg, but am a little worried about the thrust load on the crank.

Surprised to hear Simon strongly advocate the use of a non puck, but I guess he has the experience to back up the claim.

I suppose if your car is set up well (and you have good technique) then the demand on your clutch is less. I'm at the other end of the scale, as a relative noob I used to use it like a monkey, but the new clutch and conversion to +turbo will prove to be a T50 eater I think.
