    Yeah, pretty much non-free.
Clearance for gearbox is what i remember, no refabrication allowed.

    What are you thinking?

Also, i would be curious to see you out with A048s, i really want to see a back to back time betewen the R888s and A048s

i was thinking 6 speed gearbox with a beams, it is worded that you can do 'minor' modifications to it, but that is pretty loosely worded if you ask me i am pretty sure some of the guys in nsw have done it, but looking at jay's car it looks pretty much impossible without cutting it out, even with a massive hammer.

5 speed will fit by the looks of it though.

A048's will be on the cards once i get a set of 7 inch wide wheels.

    EDIT from the cams manual:

1.13 Minor reshaping: Reshaping of existing material. This excludes the addition, replacement or removal of material and must not result in a loss of integrity of the panel.

Transmission tunnel: Minor reshaping of the body is permitted to enable fitment of replacement gearboxes and clutch assemblies.

3.3 Gearshift hole: It is permissible to cut or enlarge a hole in the floor, of the minimum necessary dimensions, for the gearshift and associated mechanism. At all times, there must be some form of covering around the gearshift to prevent the ingress of material into the cockpit.

so it looks like you can hit it with a hammer... but angle grinders aren't allowed

Yeah, apart from the gear lever.

W58 does fit quite nicely though, many of those done. Plus the 6spd will need either the 6th gear locked out, or wont be able to run at all, depending on the interpretation of the rules.
