Yeow another Poo-jet to 86 convert, good choice man, love the colour
Hey everyone,
My name is Ben, I'm 18 and as you can see I'm a newby.
I found the love of my life, ha.
A few months back I bought an 86, my childhood dream car.
Remeber that 7th Birthday morning when Dad comes home with a playstation (The original) with a copy of Gran Tourismo 1, instantly falling in love with the only car you could buy, AE86!
I've just got out of skool and I've been driving a peugeot 405 Mi16 ever since I got my P's last april and thought... I'm earning a bit now, lets buy a new car.
So I hunted... I was keen on a R34 4 door skyline GT (non-turbo), so I can drive it on QLD's lovely P laws but looking at the price of $13,000, it didn't look like I'd be getting one anytime soon. And I thought of all the other sweet imports I could buy... A pulsar GtiR - turbo, Skyline GTR 32, 33, 34 - Too expensive and turboed, a stagea or a legnum - turbo and usually an auto.
But then I bought this Best motoring DVD and watched this wicked AE86 race, FROTHED to high heaven! And I'm like they are pretty rare and are like the original drifter and perform exceedingly well! So I searched for months and months on this forum and on car sales... Finally ending up with this car, I didn't see a picture of it before I bought it. I drove down to Asply from sunnycoast one night, I thought it was great. THANK YOU! And now I drive a hachi . Commodore drivers don't know what they are messing with . But anyway, enough about getting the car, here it is:

I bought it off a guy called Marty from the AE86 driving club in Brissy, but he only had it a short time after he bought it from some guy on the goldcoast. I saw it on carsales a few months before-hand when I was looking for a new car.
So it probably is Grant's old car.
The rims were in pretty bad shape when I bought it but they look spiffin' now and the front indicators were sprayed with black paint.... Quite bizar.
When Marty bought it it came with a JDM diff and junk but that all got parted out.
But JustJDM imports has some good stuff so I've been going to him for my parts =D. Mum says I have to get the rust fixed though, so that is my next expenditure.
I go off on a tangent real easily.
mountains soon ^^
Pretty keen fo some high altitude fun! =)
Just got some interior stuff done and rebuilt my shifter, so I'm keen =D.
And Dark Knight is out of action for a bit unfortunately... Sad face.
Need a camera ay.
Benjamin
Updates,
I finally got a camera =)
Since the last update i've purchased some nice little numbers.
Brakes:
- JDM Calipers
- RDA rotors
- JDM pads that came with 'DJ...' somethings..
Purchased from Craig at Just JDM Imports.
Driveline:
- AJPS shifter rebuild kit. Eliminated my gear chipping and feels rather funderful =).
- T-series differential with an unknown LSD center. Courtesy of Just JDM Imports
- Excedy sports tough Heavy Duty Clutch Kit. Driving in 1st gear from the Sunny Coast uni to my house was enough of an incentive for me to replace my burnt out clutch.
- Clutch Slave Cylinder
- Freshly machined flywheel.
Interior:
- AJPS Dash mat, very sexy. The girls do comment on how nice it is
- MR2 front seats also from Craig. The closest I can get to a bucket seat for the moment.
At the moment we are still re-assembling my car, but should be done either today or tomoro so I can get down to the meet. And be back driving! YAY!
