In other news i totally stooged it again, so now it's getting 225/50's and the front guards are getting rolled until they fit and the rears will get satin black bolt ons.
I think i almost know that feeling when you get utterly defeated by your car but i am so close to the finish line i absolutely refuse have it all fall apart on me now.

I am so glad you said this
Fuckit. I haven't done anything else by halves on this car, so flares all round it is.

Putting flairs on that perfect body work? Why not just get different wheels? Restore some MA61's?
Because it totally defeats the purpose of getting it engineered with 15x8 +2mm, 70mm over standard track - whih is exactly how i'm going to run it on the street every fucking day. No point putting 225/50's on there to clear the pits, modifying the car to fit them and then swapping the 205/55's back on and leaving my guards empty and myself open to an easy defect. Engineers report is already submitted to the DPTI so there's no turning back now. I put the tyres on the rims today and it doesn't look as bad as I initially feared, but i'm taking it to the body shop tonight and bolting the wheels on, handing them a set of flares and one way or the other they will be made to fit, be it bolt one or metal flares or the roll of the century.

Well in the case that the engineers report is submitted, then fair enough
So I got my 225/50's today - Toyo Proxes 4's. Stripped the old Kumho KU31's (now for sale) and mounted them on the Superlights.
It's not as bad as I'd anticipated. It's still not great, but it's not bolt-on-flares bad. At this stage it's getting the roll of the century. The fronts apparently are not going to be an issue - we've only got 5mm or so and the guards will easily take it, very low probability of damaging the paint too. The rears will be more of a challenge - there's about 8-10mm to cover and it's very likely the paint is going to crack. It's unfortunate but it's how it has to be. I'd rather crack the paint and spend a few hundy getting it blown in than drill holes in the body. I will be picking up some bolt ons anyway just in case we -just- can't get them in the rear, in which case they will be fitted with silicon and uberstrong double sided tape so they can be removed.
Anyway.
You can see how much bigger they are. The profile looks very 'race slick'.
