This thread is run by a sorry arse who has to drive a sorry arse rodeo every day because his sorry arse corona can't go backwards.

Forwards will have to do, then.

    One from the old days.

    "look mum, no hands!"

Note that I am being overtaken by not one, but TWO other cars. I drive like an old man.

Managed to fire it up again and take it for a spirited run this evening. Something about 'blowing out the cobwebs' comes to mind....

I've come to realize it sort of has reverse. Sort of. I was pretty hungover when i made my initial diagnosis. I can get it into reverse, but it requires sort of getting the selector as far as it will go (which is still not enough), then bringing up the clutch with my foot on the brake to 'pop' it into reverse. Not good. After that it can be selected freely from neutral as long as i don't put it in any other gear. Once i perform the same technique to get it back into first, it's gone again.

Regardless, the gearbox is royally borked.

On a lighter note, it's really good to just drive the car again, even if it is still starfire powered and can't really go backwards. It ran very well with a bit of 98 octane shoved down the gullet, and i'd really forgotten how much the fitment of the RA60 struts changed the handling of the car for the better. Stiffer and much more progressive (over factory fit oil shocks, mind you) and the better brakes are a godsend on the downhill run.

Knocking down the 18R-C this weekend, if anyone cares.

Yes, well one could substitute the phrase 'Blowing the cobwebs out' with 'Blowing a rod out'.

Knocked the motor down today, it's in almost mint condition inside.

As in, i can still get sizes and partnumbers off the bearings that are in there. I lol'd.

It might not be in by christmas now, methinks.

More fuck arounds with the motor, the machinist thinks the bores may already be too large and after honing the piston-bore clearance will be too large.

Spent this evening stripping my 2nd block. I may not have to use it, if it turns out, once i give them the pistons the clearance will be ok. Not happy though.
