Oils ratings to my understanding goes by the temperature at cold start and warmed engine....
E.g: 10w-40w would mean the thickness when fully warmed is 10 where by the thickness on a cold start is 40...
(dont know how the weight works)
Some engines like to burn oil so a thicker oil is used to maintain oil pressure......
My 12at injects oil with the fuel mixture making it like a 2 stroke....
In which case i use HPR40.....
its very humid up here on the coast and even though 25-70w is thick,
if you let the car warm up a bit more before driving it pays off....
i run it in my rx7 and my oil pressure has never been better.....
im also using HPR15 in my 16valve at the moment but does loose a bit of pressure when HOT
Then again, i know people who use Golf Western on there SR and CA's on an oil change every 2000 and never had a problem......I think its like $12 for 4 liters
