    Default New Project.

Hey there, I'm Travis, this is my first post. Bought a Sprinter off some old guy a while ago, 1 owner. Original as it came. Have been looking for a clean one for a while now to build up a solid street/track/drift car.

As I have limited knowlede of the intricacies of the AE86 any advice or suggestions would be awsome.

So far i have got a rebuilt jdm rear end, adjustable panhard and upper and lower arms. Advan 14 x 6 rims (just to begin with) And have gutted the car.

    TO GET? (please help)
Have my eye on a Full HKS headders and exhaust from japan
Adjustable coilovers all round and cambertops at the front seem the go?
Front and rear strut tower braces, tri bar at the front possibly?
Also a heavy front sway bar
Any little bits more i need to get? roll centre adjusters for the front?
    Clutch/flywheel

Have a low k's 4AGE bigport to go in. Tossing up putting it in stock and gradually building it up or have it off the road longer and do the job. (quad throttle body, computer, cams, bottom end, ect) Im starting out on the suspension and handling before i get to the engine.

Really want this thing up and going by the end of the year Wishful thinking maybe?

    Nice car Travis....

Here's my advice (So dont take it as gospel haha)... trying to follow your questions in order...

Have my eye on a Full HKS headers and exhaust from japan

I would just get a set of TRD copy headers and a 2 or 2.25 inch exhaust made

Adjustable coilovers all round and cambertops at the front seem the go?

A lot of people will tell you to have a custom set of front coilovers made, and some good springs and struts in the rear.... Im using the BC coilover kit and for the cash... Im not complaining. A few places can bring coils in from japan, others will make their own kits up here. Also search around the parts for sale thread... few sets for sale on there.

Although there is a lot better gear out there like HTS Tokiko, TRD Blues, Bilstein, KYB AGX etc. but a lot of them come with the pricetag.

Front and rear strut tower braces, tri bar at the front possibly?

I use a front tower bar only. But a rear one would make a difference too. Up to you.

Also a heavy front sway bar
I only run a front aftermarket sway ATM, but Im buying a aftermarket rear in the next fortnight or so.

Any little bits more i need to get? roll centre adjusters for the front?

I think RCA's are a must if you lower it.... General rule of thumb is the use the same thickness RCA as you drop the car, ie. drop the car 25mm, 25mm RCA etc.

Also look at some castor arms, check all your bushing isnt perished, maybe a good set of pads and some braided lines.

    Clutch/flywheel

run something like an X-Treme or Exedy single plate clutch, Maybe get a lightened flywheel with it if you can afford it.

Have a low k's 4AGE bigport to go in. Tossing up putting it in stock and gradually building it up or have it off the road longer and do the job. (quad throttle body, computer, cams, bottom end, ect) Im starting out on the suspension and handling before i get to the engine.

If I was building it... i would put the 4AGE in as is and learn to drive it, even stock they're still effective. My car already had the built motor/cams/ecu/quads etc when I bought it.Sort the suspension/chassis/braking before you go for more power. You'll be better for it in the long run

    Hope that helps.

Having a lot of fun!! Try my hand at drifting. If I suck I'll still have fun. I've lived driving & riding through the hills so i'm sure the car will have many uses.
