    Default Best Filters for Quads

    Hi guys,

Well since I got my new engine in, she needs some filters for the quads. As much as I wish I could leave them filter-less knowing my luck some cat will get sucked into my engine or the likes.

Anyways. Car will be driving on weekends, not to work everyday anymore.

So best Filters / Brands in your experience?
    How long do they last?
    Any other relevant info?

    Cheers.

Ive got uni filters for mine, but would love to run them 'more' open... might seem like a stupid question but how would running a piece of stocking material over stacks go? They are fine weave enough to stop any larger airborn matter (how well I have no idea) but how would it go airflow wise..?
car will only be driven weekends also, otherwise I'd stick with the uni's

They'd probably tear / get sucked in alot easier though.

Yeah was thinking Unifilters. not sure if there is something similar / better though.

nothing wrong with uni filters, they are very well flowing. just one issue tho... if you have an intake backfire they like to catch on fire if they are over oiled. ive had that happen

They usually have a small coiled spring in them to keep them from being sucked in.

which i went ahead and removed! Just like i removed the fire extinguisher when i was looking at replacing the carpet. In my car that is running very rich and back firing out the intake........I think i am seeing a pattern emerging here hahha

I used red unifilters on the advice of the guy in their office down the road here.

There are different colours for different applications. I was told that the red one is more "course" - it breathes better, but has less filtering ability than green or blue ones.

When the car was tuned I was told it made no more power with the filters removed. However, they did dull down the nice sound a bit.
