Got a bunch of brackets, pipes and bolts gold zinc plated and dummied it up for shits and giggles. The block will be getting a slight overbore, since there was a bit of scoring on the wall of #2 cylinder. Motor will go in for machine work early next week. I spent some time a couple of weeks ago cleaning up the casting in the intake ports with a die grinder as well, so things are on track to get this all sorted and back together soon.

I've also been in contact with Superpro about getting some rack bushes made to suit RA65/RT142 power steering racks. They're based on the MA61 rack bushes that AJPS organised a while back, but with a smaller inner diameter on the passenger side bush.

Must be going for the Toyota show car look :p

Nothing like having a fresh engine in a bay, do it once and do it properly.

    Well done man.

Thanks guys. It's gonna look hilarious when the motor is all shiny and new looking and the rest of the bay is haggard and filthy, haha.

The plating was done through Ace Gate Hardware on the other side of town. They've got a reasonably large plating setup, so they take on external work as well as their own stuff. It's not the cheapest option when you've got a whole bunch of brackets and stuff as well, but it's all about that OEM finish. If I find some pieces to stand out too much for my liking, I'll just run over them with a tin of satin black. When I get as far as getting body work done on the car in future, I'll get the rest of the bolts and brackets in the bay plated as well to match.

Will do, man. I've got a few people interested in them at the moment, so I'll see if they want to release them properly.

Just a reminder that they will only suit P/S racks. Manual racks are different again.

Didnt OEM stuff come with a thinner and duller coat of Cadmium to give the yellowish tinge?

This is true. It's hard to replicate the cadmium plating though, as it's largely been replaced with the gold passivation for environmental reasons as far as I'm aware. I guess if I were going true OEM style, all the brackets would actually be painted black anyway.

Either way, it should still look pretty cool.
