    Default Toda 264/256 cams help!

Hi sorry I don't own an AE86 but a AE82 FXGT. I fitted a pair of Toda cams over the weekend and the motor continuously hunts and wants to stall especially after a few quick stabs at the throttle. I've raised the idle up and played with the timing as well as advanced and retarted the inlet cam but no success I can get it to idle but its pretty crap. The car still drives fine but the power doesn't seem to have increased by much.
The inlet cam is a 264 7.9 lift and the exhaust cam is a 256 7.9 lift. I've checked every thing and reset all the valve clearances perfectly but the thing is still a dog. The motor is basically a standard bigport fitted with a cold air intake, headers and a 2" exhaust. The motor is still running the factory Jap spec ecu, the reason I bought these cams I've always read a standard ecu with map sensor can run up to 264 cams.
Is it normal for these cams not to work well?
Are these cams too big for the standard ecu?
Should I swap the cams to 256 inlet and 264 exhaust as they both have a dizzy drive, would this help?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Some of you may recognize the car.

as far as im aware the duration your able to run on stock ecu is either 256 on each side or 264 on each side but will run rich, maybe too much lift ? wouldnt know most ppl move to aftermarket ecus to get as much power as they can when they get into internal work

does sound like the cam timing... perhaps read up on how to set the cam timing correctly?

    Thanks for the help.
Yeah I've got adjustable cam gears and so far I've advanced and retarded both cams but no success, could it be because I'm running two different spec cams ?

The car should idle like stock, with a slight miss. Hard to pick it's got cams.
Cam should be around 110/110 (or 114/116)<- If you don't know what this means then research a bit more.

With a pair of 264's my motor does not have issue's like yours. Best bet would be to double check all connectors as it sounds more like electrical issue than the cams.

Double check your vacuum lines. Even if they're all connected you may have an air leak somewhere.

Thanks for the help guys. Problem solved! I was putting the dizzy in as per normal but I had to insert it in retarded 2 teeth back, strange. Motor runs sweet now and idles as jaz 86 said noticed a big improvement mid range and she pulls sweetly all the way to redline. Just have to find the specs for Toda 264 / 256 cams and dial them in.
    Again thanks!
