I have built a tough 3T-G and used it for many years.

For the motor itself, you are best to start out with a complete 2T-G twincam motor. Because it you get the head, you still need the dummy cam and dummy cam sprocket. And a few other twincam parts make it nicer.

    For a "3T-G", you need:
2T-G twincam head, including cams and buckets etc
    2T-G thermostate housing
top chain tensioner (I have one spare)
    cam sprockets
top chain (can get this new)
2T-G specific dummy cam, and sprocket
top chain guides (very hard to buy new)
2T-G specific front timing cover (hard to find)
bottom chain and tensioner (can get new, same as 2T/3T)
    3T crank
    3T pistons, modifyed
rotate unused camshaft bearings in the block to blockoff oil holes
2T-G dizzy is longer than singlecam one, but can use single cam one.
use 2T or 3T waterpump, block off one hole for 2T-G spec.

Then you decide between EFI or carbies...

For carbies, you use a stock mechanical pump from any 3T-C or 2T.

I have a pair of carbies to sell, but no manifold.

No timing belt. They are chain. Big fat double row chains, 2 of them. You can buy them new. Generic chain that can be made your length from a local machine shop. The bottom chain can be ordered new as a kit to suit 3T-C.

The same exhaust manifold and gasket fits either 2T-G or 2T or 3T-C. So you have a choice of a old cast iron one, or aftermarket extractors which used to be a very common on the shelf item. (Listed to suit either TA22 Celica, or TE72 T-18).

Just to confirm, you can chuck the 2T-G head on a 3T bottom. BUT, you need to disassemble both engines down to every last nut and bolt before you put the hybred back together. Valve clearance needs to be machined in the exhaust side of the 3T pistons. (Use a 2T-G piston to copy).

3T headgasket can be used if you get creative in filling the front timing cover gap. Just in case the 2T-G head gasket costs too much. I have done it before.

The best intake manifold gaskets are the ones you have yourself from cerial packet.
