I've been using Royal Purple 10W-40 for quite anumber of years and no problems. I'm not a fan of oil additives.
Mat with one T .. aka Pen15 told me about this and i thought i would post it up.. funily enough long time before even coming across this i had already decided that Penrite SIN 5 5w 60 was the choice for the 4a... looks like i made the right one.
Discuss.....
I still use my favourite oil additive.. BiTron that some ppl arnt a fan of, apparently it can cause internal corrosion.. "apparently" but ill drop a bearing into a tub and leave it soaking untill i see any...
in this same type of test above Bitron never breaks down.
You tube it...

i've been told to run mobil fully sin 5-50 and it works good, but costing 60+ a pop, it kinda hurts
see the test.. mobil fails
and royal purple didnt really perform that well wither.. quite surprising
HOLD UP SUNDEE...
you just said that royal purple "didnt perform well"...have you even read the article in the link you posted?
yeah i too gathered from that article that royal purple was one of if not the best.
Very interesting read, I was suprised that my current oil (Penrite HPR) did quite well since it's one of the cheaper brands. After my engine has run in I might try Royal Purple, Before i read that article I thought it was overrated and over priced.
