    Cool khai's**86

    hey guys,

so i finally took the big step into buying an ae86, after owning my first car for over a year now (mercedes C200) i was failey bored in just moding audio and ice. so decided to learn more about hardware and thats how i found myself wanted an 86. anyway, saw a nice clean stock adm 86 at uni one day and for somereason decided to leave an EOI letter under the hachi's windscreen wiper. 4 months later i was doing my first test drive. FUN. bout the car and began a small uni and work funded build.

Car: 1983 ADM toyota sprinter AE86
    kms: 361xxx
    motor: the indestructible 4AC

took the car home and began the roadworthy process, a little bit of rust around a drain hole under the body (thats all ) new rear tyres, repaire of headlight switch and windscreen chip. not much hey? then began painting interior plastics black, made a carpet floor.

i then purchased a boss kit and wheel from GKTECH and also a letterfox fog light grill.

Future planned mods to be done before 2010.

KYB excel G shocks all round
    AJPS springs all round
new strut brace and sway bar.
sportmax 513's gunmetal grey 15x8 0 offset (yumyum)

and to hopefully mold my ducktail into hatch.

looks good, do the speaker pods get in the way of the pedals? they look a lil chunky ... but a nice option rather than cutting a massive hole in the door card ... any idea where i could get some?

ye car is quite clean, the speakers came with car, although i was very into ice previously. ummm basically wow, northfield and stores like those usually have a small variety of speaker pods like the ones in mine, although mine are genuine alpine type R splits and alpine speaker pods .

the 4ac will remain, due to my p plate rules . hahaha but to not lie, the exhaust has been moded and makes a pretty nice tone when slowing down/. down gearing hahahaha.

just quick Q. i have a big gear knob on at the moment, i dont like it but wanna keep it, will a short shifter help me with this height? if so what brand?

curious as to what kind of paint you used on the interior pieces.

and the end result - is it cracking/peeling?

love these stock examples of the ol' ae86

the paint was actually 2 different types. first was power plus from super cheap auto, and also just a matt black australian export (cheap paint) from super cheap, with a few layers of gloss over the top. is going very well no peeling or anything wrong so far.

letter bow grill purchsed from this site. random seller

If you're saying the top of your gearshift is uncomfortably high you're barking up the wrong tree thinking of a short shifter - they reduce the distance betwaeen gears while shifting and usually come same height as standard (my trd one did anyway). Cutting down the shifter and welding your thread/big-but-cool-enough-to-keep shifter back on is the answer. If i misinterpreted please ignore.

Very nice clean example with good mild mods planned. The interior is particularly mint. Sounds like it'll be a sensible build up, good luck!

well ye u were right on. i have a big flower shifter, like the shifter but not the height (i know thats the whole reason for dildo shifters) but yea maybe cutting and welding will have to do thank you.
