Put in the strut towers yesterday & today for the rear coilovers, it was raining today so I couldn't weld , so I just shaped everything for welding tomorrow

This is under the rear inner gaurd

    this is in the boot
the other grey tube thing in the background is where my old spring setup used to run, made to much noise and frankly, was pretty crap hence coilovers. sould have them in properly tomorrow, post up pics then of that and of the whole car with new wheels and bumpers tomorrow night

I know that it costs money to build a good SR, but i built this car to eventually demoralise most street registered cars and ultimately, thats what i plan to do...
and after talking to a few engine builders (pa's mates) that have been building performance motors for more years than I've been on this planet, i can safely say that most people spend way to much money on brand names instead of well researched products and info.

    for example:
if im building an SR to make 200-250rwkw, why do i need HKS, Tomei, Jun etc components, when there are several australian companies that make cams, rods, pistons etc that are used in several forms of motorsport and have proven to be plenty tough for what i want to do.

Not only that, but they're half the price.

im not building a drag motor so I dont need massive internals, i want a motor that leans more towards torque and drivability, not outright power, similar to a rally motor (higher compression, less boost)

me and my dad will most likely be rebuilding it ourselves because in the past we have found that the best way 2 do something is to take the time to do it yourself, not pay someone mega dollars 2 do a half assed job

P.S. I know that several people will probably disagree with me on this but this is my opinion and i am only posting it up to help guide others if they wish to follow my path, so if you dont agree, please dont bombard this post with abuse

no, to much stuffin around to bother with a mechanical speedo, i just put a VDO electronic speedo in the KE70 dash cluster, saved a heap of stuffin around with ratio boxes etc, and i can just reset it if i get different wheels, diff ratios etc

sorry i didnt reply earlier, as I'm pretty sure you guessed i havent been here in a while

    ::UPDATES::

its black now, has konig rewinds that fit properly, has hit a roo (stupid wildlife ) been fixed and generally thrashed and abused, got a jdm headlight setup coming in the next few days, a jdm lip if somebody reads there pm's, I'm trying desperately to get some tein coilover to do what i want and I'm plannig to do a few more suspension mods, mainly just pull my finger out and get stuff done.

and this is what i want to do next (kinda)

i want do do the front struts a little differently, put equal length four link bars in it, and a watts linkage setup but this is the general plan

the red links with the holes are swaybar arms, the holes are for adjustability near the ends and probably to have less weight or to provide more flex in the rest of the arms, this idea is kinda half way between standard adjustable sway bars and full blade type adjustable sway bars as found on V8 supercars and such. The blade system is great for adjustability but to easy to break so this is a good second. The under car pics of the white car is of the john smith bathurst trd race car

got my quad head lights wont be goin in till i get my phat JDM front lip (yo ) from gilly, should look quite the goods with a new lip, quads and flat black with a yokohama sticker across said lip

some of you may have notice that the only wank factor sticker on the car is said yoki sticker, well if the older of you will remember back to a bad 80's movie called canonball fever with john candy in it. There's a red lamborgini countach that skips across a pond like a stone and the dude driving it has a spare rear wing on his lap at the time, well that car has a tyre sticker across the front lip, thats my inspiration incredibley lame i know, but thats my story and I'm stickin 2 it

Right, i finally decided to get off my arse with this thing, 2 trips on bad country rds has made the decision for me. The front lip and quad light are gonna have to wait for a while, hopefully I'm ordering some new koni sports mr2 inserts in the next few weeks and then I'm gonna be making up some new coilovers front and rear with some new springs to get rid of the shitty kings progressives that ive got at the moment. If time permits, I'm going to setup an equal length four link setup in the rear also.

Watch this space, I'm going to do a proper write up on the struts and four link setup.

    Quady quad quad quads
