    Default diff ratio question

just about to put my F series diff in my car. got my altezza TRD 2 way lsd off jesse last week and my mx13 housing is all mounted up ready to go.

tossing up ratio to get. buying it new.
    car currently has a 4.3
car gets driven to work a fair bit. problem is i do alot of freeway driving.
at the moment the 4.3 is pretty good not the best. but i would like a bit more torque down low to get 3rd a little easier.
got a beams 3sge with a w55. soon to be a 58 if i find one for the right price.

    question is 4.56 or 4.88?

4.88 may be a little much but would be awsome.

    any opinions would be great.
as i still want to be able to drive it.

hmmm closest to 4.88 ppl run i think is robo running his 4.7 trd T series cw&p and he drives it daily, can ask him for input ?

but saying that i think you wont have trouble getting 3rd with beams and ur driving skills with a 4.556, i jus got same ratio for my rig incase i go turbo later its still semi practical

not sure but i think w55 and w58 have same gearing ratios? so that would effect it.
also, what rpm does you car sit at, at 100km/h with the 4.3's?

yeah it does 3rds ok at the moment. i could get used to the 4.3 no probs.
but the way i see it, i am buying new. and get the choice of any.

really i could get used to any. just want others input.

i was leaning towards the 4.556 aswell.

    but the 4.8

gold car used to pull 4th with the 6 speed and a 4.3 withouth a problem... well, with a little bit of commitment on initiation will have to work out comparable ratios. I know when i had the W58 ready to go in, I sourced a 4.77 to keep things on par with the 6 speed. (which i then sold to eddie). It came from the rear of a diesel 4wd import townace grand something something.

where do you find these imported cars. cannot even find a tarago around here.
wreckers want $450 for a second hand ifs hilux diff ratio.

dont want to pay $450 for a new one.

used to pick up a diff centre for $150 when they had them. just dont seem to get them anymore.
