hey guys im thinking of getting a garrett GT2871r with .86 exh housing.
just wondering if anyone knows what sort of lag and top end power i can expect from it?
is it too big?
just opinions please.
my engine is a smallport 4agze

AE86 THE BEST
how laggy do u think eddie? i want the biggest possible turbo that i can while maintaining some response.
im guessing youre trying to dowse some 4age power figures?? ive seen some massive turbos on cars and they are realisticsly undriveable, this however will be laggy but very driveable, Lagy to me is not having boost inbetween corners while drifting and haing to clutch kick to get spool again so you probably would be happy enough with it!
coming from a kkr it will be a huge difference
AE86 THE BEST
Well Eddie the cars main purpose is drift. But since I'm upgrading the turbo I thought I may aswell put the best on I can, that way I won't have to change it again later.
The disco on my 4agte now is pretty laggy compared to my old gt28r getting 7psi around 4000rpm. I've driven a sr20 with gt28ir .86 and it was laggier then my car now. Ul be disapointed with response on a 4a. Try it in .64 rear
What rear housing is on ur 2860rs? Maybe I will just stick to a 2860rd then. I just wanted some idea on it before I spent 1500 on a new turbo only to find out it makes the car crap to drive
I've got .64 rear it's very drivable .86 would be like a 4ac untill 5000 and if u track it alot it will bog on corners lol
Ok so it looks like I will be getting a .64 disco then! How does the top end power feel? Does it keep pulling right to redline? My current turbo starts to die off toward the end.
yer easy as 15-18psi , my stock s14 turbo would do it also and my limiter is at 8000. Ive only taken it there once tho. Ill be getting it dyno tuned again with the new turbo ill post up the results.
