please dont use cadel evans or any pro cyclist as inspiration for "average" weight. They list their race weights usually, about 5-7 kg below their winter weight and for racing, they are about as useful as an aids patient.

Road cyclists, especialy tour contenders strip a lot of unnessecary body MUSCLE to get the weights they do. One of the reasons they snap colar bones so easily, there is little muscular support.

Fitness and body image should NEVER be linked to weight. in the respects of car drvers et all, they are not working on fitness, they are acheieving a goal... being lighter for the benefit of their sport.

I fall into the bmi obese category. Im 172cm and about 86 - 90 kg depending on how much racing im doing. i carry a bit of fat, but it helps for pushing people around on the track and i cant be bothered these days when im proper race lean i scrape in at 84kg. I bench over my body weight and squat upwards of 260kg. When i trained for road racing i got down to 70 kg through a lot of muscle loss. Yeah i could climb a bit better, but i couldnt pic up a bike at work or undo the stuff i wanted to without breaker bars and shit. it also meant, that while i could chase the tool theif, he would kick my arse when i got him

congrats on the weight loss and the lifestyle changes, and yes it will make your car faster, just dont loose the plot

ps i might be racing the chrissy carnivals this year, you ever head out?

Thanks for the tips fanta. I was reluctant to get into the messy details on a car forum.

I am fairly sure F1 drivers (and V8 Supercars drivers etc) train as an athlete, not just to save weight. They have to have VERY good fitness and real strength. Cardiovascular fitness achieved from running or cycling (which racecar drivers do) is a huge factor in dealing with driving a long race in a hot car. Russell Ingall, for example, has his own gym at his house. He and other drivers train with weights on the head to strengthen neck muscles.

In all, there should be a balance. I ride, I go to the gym only sometimes. I drive my AE86 never.

didnt explain myself well lol it was late. i meant you should aim to be fit and strong, not aim for a weight unless specific weight is your goal, in which case sacrifices are made elsewhere, body image i feel is dangerous to be linked weight alone.

but your right, sorry for the offtopic peoples

The hood rod is copied in aluminium.

    Standard hood rod = 350g
    Aluminium hood rod = 130g

EDIT: this product failed during testing. Don't try at home unless you have a light bonnet.
