Thread: Guard lipping question.

  1. #1

    Default Guard lipping question.

    Quick question,
When lipping rear guards by hand (rubber mallet + heat gun) does everyone normally cut the lip in places to make it fold easier, or should i just be able to do it if i purchase a dolly and just hit it harder? (car is a s13, double layer lip on the rear if that changes anything compared to ke/ae)
    Thanks,
    Matt

Be very careful how far and hard you hit the guards on a S13. They'll pop in over the bodyline crease above the guard and then they're fucked.

I just hit them fairly firm with a plastic faced hammer and a block of wood wrapped in a couple of rags, and heat it up with a heat gun.

Havent cracked any paint or creased any guards yet.

You will crack the paint inside the guard, but just paint over it in some satin black paint to seal it again.

matt, why didnt you msg me? bring your car round next time your free and i'll sort you out mate.

s13 guards are easy to lip with guard roller, wont dint the 1/4, and depending on paint wont crack either.
