    and a lot less win.

    if you havnt read anywhere else,

    the top end of the engine is lunched right now

    so ill have to attempt a rebuild and see how badly i can fuck that up

    car will now be off the road for ages i recon

    any advice gratefully recieved

    hey beau im fairly sure its NOT the fault of the person i bought the engine off.

    i recon the most likely culprit was me "misplacing" something down the throttle throat and not realising. I "SHOULD" have inspected each inlet befor i started the engine after completing the work i did on the throttles, but hindsite is allways so perfect.

    Until i get the head off i wont know the real cause, and the thing that may go in the favour of me not having rooted my engine is that the sparkplug was undamaged... i would have thought it would smash the plug up pretty good?

    just trying to decide if trying to rebuild the head with my current level of skills (poor) or trying to source a bare engine and drop it in, shelve this one untill i have a clue.

    But that puts the car off for a while till i save the coin.

    1. Pull head off (complete, with valve train, sans water outlets et al)
    2. drop off at reconditioners
    3. check bores/piston tops for damage
    4. Buy VRS kit
    5. Buy new water pump, timing belt kit
    6. drink a beer
    7. put it all together

    To be honest Pat, I ripped my gen1 apart before i even thought about what i was going to do to it. Turns out on the short block alone, ive spent a fair bit more than what a complete beams would have cost me.

    yeah ill see what kind of damage has been done and go from there.

    I have the workshop manual now, so at least ill be dangerous with half a clue

    vrs kits usually have all gaskets and whatnot needed to replace when the head is taken off , like head gasket , inlet and exhaust gasket , valve stem seals , cam seal , cam cover gasket and so on , whats the go with the front quarters? they been cut or something?
