Default Stupid questions, im a noob to 4a's

hey fellas, any body able to tell me what the max boost a 4age can take is?
    im just curious... lol

also what does standard jdm 4age rev limit at? is it safe to bounce it off the old limiter every now and then? im a bit rev happy at times... ive had a few 4k's and a couple of other toyotas before and they didnt seem to mind a bit of valve float here and there.

The 4Ks effective rev limit is the valve bounce. Well, maybe they don't mind that, but they don't make alot of power there either. And sometimes the pushrod pops off the rocker and you have to drive home on 3cyl.

The 4A-GE is 20 years newer in design. The rev limit is way before valve bounce starts. Everyone here will know someone that likes the rev limit, and sometimes they get away with it for a very long time.

Just a bit of rev limit every now and then is fine. Yes, they love it. Sounds better than a Nissan on boost cut.

There is no such thing as "max boost". An odd motor may quit after a week at 7psi, others may take 16psi for years without complaining. Also the CR of GEs (16 and 20V)varied over the years, and this will have an effect on safe boost.

I bounced by 4AGZE off fuel cut (only 7000, set with aftermarket ECU) for years and it did nothing but love it.

I never ran it with standard ECU so I don't know. Though I'm sure GE and GZE rev limits can be found on the internet somewhere.

Just went for a thrash in my mates 86 with an ae92 4a and that limited just before 8k I think.

Guess I will find out soon enough, my motor is getting delivered tomorow
Anybody know what the lowest legal height for a ksev is in s.a.? The cops here are cunts and they think somethin ain't right they'll defect it without even measuring it. Must be bionic cops that can test tint height and noise just by looking at it.

A little tub of Valvoline grease is 98mm high. You have to be able to slide that under your car without it getting stuck on anything.

Rev limit is 7750, on small ports anyway, but it cuts spark when you hit it so it isn't really much fun I find.
