LOL. What can you say to that? Anyone ever had an 86 and a 70 on corner scales?
I got nothing.

What bumper? The one on Beallys (driftke70) car? That's an 86 front bar if that was the question.
I got nothing.

More like comparing S13/RPS13 with Cefiro - same era, some similarities but different.
At the end of the day AE86 over KE70 for me any time any place.
Edit: Suspension wise - different diameter on front strut cases, valving (compression/rebound rates) and travel of shocks is also different, slightly different spring rates. But you can fit them without much fuss, bolt spacing same on front strut tops?

I just dont see the point in paying more for a car I want to drive hard.
Its nice knowing a written off car may only mean a few hundred dollars and some time to reshell.
Lots of people come over to ke70 from ae86 for this reason. Wreck a nice Jap sprinter and you reset your priorities, most likely.
When I can get all the same floorpan geometry more or less, slightly lighter weight and readily available cheap or free parts I know what Id prefer. call me a tightarse if you will, but for me the cheap thrills far outweigh the appeal of owning an ae86.
You dont find many AE86s hiding around the traps these days, I mean at a wrecker they may last about 4 hrs usually, if they even make it there.
There are still thousands of ke70s on the road. All over the place. Old people still own them from new, students buy them since the motors just dont stop going, no matter how bad they are running. Always cheap ones on abay. In reshell terms, a ke70 with rust on ebay usually goes close to or just over 500 bucks. An ae86 with the same damage would see about 1500 minimum. I dont see that you get much for that 1000 dollars, especially if you have a nice car in parts.
As for private sale resale value. There has been the odd KE70 go for more than 5000 dollars, but not too many. For that money it would be well modified, and plated for the mods.
AE86s will rarely go for less than 5000 if tidy overall. However finding a buyer in the AE86 marketplace with 8000 dollars or more can be difficult.
The only way to get your cash back after your done with a build in either car is to part it out. Id rather see this happen to a ke70 over an ae86 any day.
I prefer the look of small sedans also. If I were to buy an AE86 someday, Itd be a Notchback for sure. Id like to own one for a daily but not a thrash car I guess.
currently own a ae86, needs rego'
want to own a ke70, cant even justify paying anything close to $1000 for a rusty BUT still rego'd for less then 6months,still working in ok condition for one...now that surely is a bargin in most eyes... something like a ke70 isnt worth trying to make it 100% rust free for daily+track abuse...$500 bucks would be more ideal...
with ae86 yes you pay for the name and its historic achievments
ke70 you want it cause its cheap and shit all...so it should remain cheap and shit all =p
but regardless...both cars are awesome and still want to own both

well for me it was that I wanted to be able to put a bike in the back, can't easily do that with a ke70 unless it was a wagon
