do you have to take the tappet cover off every time you want to adjust it?
I didn't pay to go on pan...
And I don't really want to pay 80$ to go on a track which is too big for the power I have and have to wait 20 mins to get a run.
Will be ordering parts tomorrow, Not going to get pistons, but I will do rings and bearings along with higher grade head bolts, HG, new oil pump, timing gear (chain, steal guides, heat treated gears) and a few other things.
But I'm currently unsure about getting a which will allow me to deck my block to raise the compression and also advance the valve timing(for adjustment of the power band). Will be around 150 posted from USA.
Let me know what you guys think.

Cam cover yes..
Here is a spec sheet for advancing and retarding valve timing on a 22re with an upgraded cam (268deg). Obviously will be different with higher compression etc.

looks to me like you want it set to straight up - i.e. factory specifications? for what you want i think just leave the cam gear alone?
Maybe. I wanted the cam gear so I could deck the head as much as possible to raise the compression.
I have been doing some reading. I don't think I will need the adjustable cam gear. If I take .5mm off the block it will increase compression to ~9.7:1 over the stock 9.4:1 and also will retard my cam about 1-2 degrees which will suit my needs.
Now I don't have a new head and it has been faced, so I will have to check how much has been taken off..
Now with this and current mods I should have around 120 HP according to EB (LOL?!)

Parts have been ordered.
1. A full set of premium Rock piston rings, your choice of std, .020", .030" or .040" to fit your stock bore size or already oversize bore.
2. A complete Rock Bearing set, mains, rod bearings, thrust washers, choice of std, .010" .020" or .030" undersize to fit your stock or reground crankshaft.
3. A full set of Rock gaskets, containing our steel faced "Slipperplate" head gasket, all the rest of the engine gaskets and premium Viton oil seals.
4. A NEW Rock oil pump.
5. Our TKS900S/R heavy duty timing kit, with the steel driver's guide and heat treated fastners and all related fully heat treated gears, full roller double swedged chain, OEM tensioner..
6. Bronze deep dish freeze plugs.
Toyota 22R/RE NEW HEAD BOLTS 85 & up PRO Bolts
That combined with the block being shaved .5mm-.8mm should be win, and keep me going for a while.
I'm excited. I'm tired of my engine sounding like arse.

Are they shit? I can prob swap them for king.
na it just sounds funny.
kings bearings are good
Here is my exhaust... The muffler is now under the passenger seat.. It was lower but it got raped heaps and it now sits higher and vibrates on my gearbox crossmember.. Awesome. Rear pipes are 2", Will make them polished stainless when I feel the need.
I also removed the badges under the lights and welded up the holes.
