    Default Coil packs/leads

ok im running a microtech on my 4agte right now,
just getting around to sorting out the coil packs.
the computer cme with a set of 7mgte packs which i've wired in but they have some funky ass clips that hold the spark leads in, and there is no way normal leads fit into it.

I'd honestly rather just use normal $10 spark leads than having to buy this $$$ pack everytime one burns out.

What coil packs are people successfully running on their setups?
bosch HEC's/cheaper alternatives im mainly looking for. (ones that use the common leads you find at auto one hanging on the wall i'd prefer)

You can run any coil setup you want. Almost too many options to list. I keep forgetting what sort of igniters you need and how many, but I think some options are:

    1. 7M-GTE twin coils, with 4A-GZE igniter or 2 igniters or a twin output igniter.
    2. 4A-GZE twin coils, as above. 4A-GZE leads.
    3. Hyundia Excel twin coils and igniter. Regular leads. (Excels sometimes run poorly, maybe due to their faulty coils, not sure).
    4. 4 generic transformer coils with regular leads, with 2 igniters. 1 igniter for 2 coils, wasted spark.
    5. Coil-on-plug coils with inbuilt igniters, from 1JZ-GTE, 1ZZ-FE, 1NZ-FE etc... Make your own brackets. Use 4 outputs from ECU, or 2 outputs with 2 groups of 2.
    6. Get a dizzy cap.

sorry, i forgot to mention i am running an LTX8 so the igniters are already built into the circuit.

just need to know a good coil pack that uses standard leads really.
preferably on the cheaper side of bosch HEC's etc

hey all just a slightly off topic question will the 4agze twin coils and 4agze leads work with a 20 valve?

No, the plugs are a different size.

But I have all the coils, leads and plugs here. If you want I can carefully swap the 4A-GZE plugs over to the 20v leads and sell them to you. I have done this once before.

    5. Coil-on-plug coils with inbuilt igniters, from 1JZ-GTE, 1ZZ-FE, 1NZ-FE etc... Make your own brackets. Use 4 outputs from ECU, or 2 outputs with 2 groups of 2.

    Has anyone done this?
will the fact that inbuilt ignitors are in the coils affect anything? (remember the microtech already has an ignitor circuit)
and im assuming you can buy these new (aftermarket, not oem) at a relatively good cost?
