    Default AE86 ground clearance

Can anyone tell me what the factory minimum ground clearance of an ae86 is so i can get an idea of how low i can go to stay street legal? Pretty sure my 27 year old suspension has sagged, so I can't get a clear idea from the car.

100mm at its lowest point is the legal height for a car. Check out some peoples build threads to get an idea of what height spring you need to run to get that height. Problem solved

i think there is also some requirement that it must retain X % of the factory suspension travel.

if you are in QLD then you can check out that dodgy ass modification brochure.

also theres the 100mm that clinton has mentioned. but if you get a picky cop you might get done for the suspension travel one.

i belive the suspension travel defect has been used when cops want to get you for having stiff springs.

i got done for both at the same time lol, the cop actually told me the lack of travel was the main reason he made it a major defect

I'm in the NT. Basically if it can drive over a coke can, it's legal.

So does anyone know how low i can go? Are 2 inch lowered springs too much, or pretty well right?

2inch is nothing, that wont get you pulled over...cutting 2 coils on the standard springs will cause some attention....

ive ran 220mm springs up front and 210mm on rears of my ae86...
cops has never mentioned that my car was to low...and i was using 13" and 14" rims...
bodykits with these spring hieghts WILL make it look lower as the kit hangs and will hit shit like a CAT or DOG or speedhumps etc...
