    he guys,

ive never snapped an axle untill last night when i mastered hibinos jump drift. its easy to take them out, but i guess not if its snapped? what techniques do you guys have of getting the whole axle out?

its a T series. also can i use RA celica T series centres if the axle has snapped inside the centre? i know about the cutting the axle down by 10mm but thats it.

    Thanks in Adavnce

i dont think it will be actually snapped. you would have shaved the teeth off the end id say, probs wouldnt hurt to clean out your center either. should come out fine

or and also what did you guys do about getting a new bearing onto it? just go to a workshop and ask a guy to press this on or something?

lol i'v snapped 2 of these suckers. and no the teeth were fine the axel snapped and twisted just as it narrows into the housing. metal everywhere, even warped my last housing cuz i drove it home.

basically you should be able to slide the axel out just as normal. if you have recently pulled the nose cone off your diff you should be ok to leave the diff on the car and take off the nose cone this way.

but im assuming you havnt taken it off? easiest to pull the diff out. get a braker bar and take the bolts off the nose. then using a hammer hit the nose cone and keep pulling up. it will eventually wiggle off. then you should be able to see where all the metal is inside the centre. clean it out and maybe flush it or use i high pressure air hose to get the little bits out.

this is a good time to check if you have warped the splines in the centre or damaged them too much by sliding the new axel in rather than putting it all back together only to realise you have to undo it again.

as for the bearings. take them to a shop as the have to heat the axel to get them on.

and for the axel depends what diff you are using. i use an ra40 diff so i just used ra40 axels as they are easy to find. but yes if ur using a t18 diff you just cut 10mm off the end. pretty sure there is still enough splines left on the axel to work ok.

i think i pretty much covered everything?

I've busted lots of axles and never had a problem getting them out. Just pull your axles as normal then remove the centre. Every time I had an axle break it was at the end of the splines. Usually I ditched the centre (welded) when an axle went, but a time or two I managed to lever the broken stub out of the centre.

Basically any common T series axle will suit. RA40, RA60, Jap RT132 (all of which require 10mm taken off), basically whatever you can find easily.

how did you go about leveling the stub out? thats the main thing i need to figure out. i could buy a whole new rear end but there are better things i could spend money on...
