    Default suspension test drive

    morning folks,

well i am almost completed my 86 front end collection of parts, as you may or may not have seen in my build thread. (86 lcas, jap brakes and the struts suit ae92 shockabsorbers)

what i am trying to decide on is shocks and springs (i have coilovers already but didnt come with shocks and springs).

i currently have some 8kg springs but i want a better street setup for grriiippppp and a bit of comfort, yet good handling. (a tall order i know, but new cars seem to pull it off...)

so i am wondering if some any you blokes (either 86 or ke70) who have an 86 front end setup that you think is pretty good for street grip would be willing to take me for a drive in your car.

im thinking 6kg springs atm but i cant decide on shocks (either AGX/koni/bilstein is the choices at the moment).

the reason being is that i can get peoples oppinions on shocks all day long, but before i spend ~$600 on a pair on shock absorbers, and ~$200 on springs i would like some first hand experience on how they go.

    i live in wynnum 4178

so if any of you are keen to take me for a drive in your beast let me know!

I have some new koni reds ae92 adjustable for sale...

I know no one will listen but if you want handling... I would choose 275lb fronts (5kg) and 175-200lb rear (3-3.5kg) 60mm or so lower, Koni's or bilstien (havent used kybs before). Take the shocks to a PROPER suspension workshop and have them re-valved and matched on a dyno to suit the spring rates, Have them setup the ride height (if you have coilovers) and have them set the adjusters (then dont touch them!). Then have a look at your sway bar options.

It wouldnt look super slammed or fully sik, but it will work very well on the street and track.

i have a suspension dyno...... its called a mountain
no point re-valving shocks to suit springs if you dont like how it drives, only way to set up suspension is change it, drive it, feel what you think it needs more/less of, adjust as needed

    What tyres are you running?

Lawsons ae71 is scary fast with traction brackets, 7kg and 4.5kg, swaybars, Toyo R1R's and bilsteins, rides so smooth too.
