well wats a popular option as im open, i.e rebuilt 4age looking for some more power out of it

From memory I went: 10thou off the block and 30 thou off the head and used a stock head gasket for 10.7cr roughly...???
If you've got the head off get a good valve job done... Will net you good results and shouldn't cost too much..

well according to my chart your compression ratio goes to 9.7:1 with a 0.8mm gasket. Whatever you do this is a good choice as it closes up your piston to deck clearence. From there I would personally take another 0.5mm off or there abouts. I can work out what that roughly will get you in the end.
hmm interesting. im thinking about doing the same with my smallport and using a 0.5mm headgasket. is there a formula for working this out, say 0.5mm gasket and 0.5mm off the head on a smallport?
there is something, however when shaving heads it's not tottaly linear in the rate of change
I don't go near 0.5mm gaskets because I still can't figure out how the pistons don't hit the heads
