Default IRS Toyota Rear Camber Adjustment Discussion

After doing some reading and trawling regarding adjusting the rear camber on my cressida, would like to hear other opinions and ideas on the topic.

The same concepts apply to all 80s toyotas with IRS Including MX73 and earlier, RA, MA, SA etc.

From what i can gather making the mounting tab on the rear subframe (where the rear control arm mounts) elongated to adjust. Like so:

Im not sure if its just me, or having adjustment like that seems it would be easily moved if i were to hit a ripple strip or similar? or would it be fine.

I read this changes the suspension travel arc. im not 100% sure what is meant by this, but i would assume its the difference in angle between that and the toe adjusting tab? if anyone could elaborate on this? or if its not even worth worrying about.

So yea, i plan on going ahead with the adjustment tabs, unless someone has any better ideas.

Also interested to know how much camber adjustment you could get out of them, i currently have alot (see pic below) and want around 0 to -1 degrees.

    Cheers guys

with a nissan is simply a case of buying adjustable (usually the upper) arms to adjust camber.

im not sure what is on the market but id be quite confident the mx73 is the same as mz10/ma61 so anything that fits those 3 models should fit yours.

I think that's what the circle washer thing is for, so it sits on the top of the tab, to stop it from moving up and giving you more negative camber. Mercers runs this setup in his RA65 with no issues.

Fuck that, Ive got -3.5 on the carina and im not happy but thats the best i can go.

But, i sort of got over it awhile ago. The plan is to get some decent 3/4 heim joints and lop the ends off the lower arm

this is whats on (or similar) simion mercers car aka tim ottaways old celica, he can get up to 0 deg. but with toyota IRS its porportional to the hight you have the car running at. im at -3.5 as well and i dont mind it at all. with thoes tabs you should be able to get 0 deg at 100mm chassie hight.

theres a few how to's on celicasupra.com and toymods with all the info there.

John, i dont think i can veiw celicasupra forums, something about not being a memeber. If you find some good discussions on toymods can you post them here? I have no luck with that search function.

also, I dont think many will run 100mm chassis height, and from what ive heard norbie doesnt make his weld on tabs anymore, so what to do?

    alright.

i have a feeling the standard bolts are just normal ones, the ones in the pic look like the toe adjustment bolts. i could be wrong, will look when i get home..

Or, what about making a square washer (or several) with the bolt hole offset to hold the bolt in place? that means under load it would be the washer is taking the load and stopping from moving.. So really to adjust the camber u change washer?
