Default can i use any 4age manifold stuff on 4afe??

hey converting a 4afe i got sittin at home into rear wheel drive to throw in my ae86 until i can get coin up to put in a 20valve. just wondering if i can use inlet or exhaust manifolds off a 4age or if not what manifolds can i use.

the inlet plenum faces the wrong way and i didnt wanna have to do a shitty cut and shut job on it so is there another way. also what ex manifolds have the same mounting as 4afe. extractors?? turbo manifolds? etc etc

also can anyone tell me what is a cheap upgrade for injectors for the 4afe as the standard ones seem pretty shitfull

anything else anyone might know please let me know
    cheers heaps guys and gals

The exhaust manifold wont fit. just checked using a 4afe ex. gasket, besides it would be in FWD format, which wont work when in RWD unfortunatly.

you may have to get some extractors made up.
i have no idea about the inlet manifold, but by looking at the 4afe manifold, it would be much easier to cut n' shut, than to try and swap all sensors, TPS, vaccum lines etc.

hope this helps, and good luck!

I hope you realise that a 4AFE has the distributor at the back of the head = pain in the arse?

There was a guy on the forums that had a 4A-FE in his 86. I bet he'd be a huge help.

He was like Turkish-86 or something.

Brad, I get the feeling that swapping in a 4AFE would take way more time, effort and money than it would be worth. Especially if you plan on swapping it out for a 20V one day anyway. I'd hazard a guess that almost everything would be custom (possibly excluding engine mounts) because it's different enough from a 4AGE and rarely RWDified.

On the other hand if you wanted a "fun" way to spend a few months and learn some stuff in the process then you could shoehorn it in for a laugh.

And as for injectors, if using the stock management then you need stock injectors. Clean, maybe. Upgrade, no. You only ever need to replace injectors if they are broken or can't support the power you're making.

Hi, I currently own a 4A-FE and was wondering if I would be able to fit the intake manifold from a 4A-GE on it? If not, would the throttle body at least swap over
