this is a defintie issue with the ke70 at least. The fittings supplied are for an imperial, and the ke70 has metric fittings at the flare.

ill check in my 86 on the weekend as to whether they are different.

worst case scenario, as i have done, just use the standard lines. works fine. Still a bit of a pain having shiny lines that are no use to me, but ,eh. Still a classy look from behind the wheels....

ke70 has same threads as ae86 as standed lines can be swapped as im using ke70 lines on my 86.

this kit is made in usa and everything in the usa is imperial so when usa toyota build their car they use all imperial equivilant nuts and bolts

the kit is made aroung the usdm ae86 hence why they are imperial not metric!

theres a guy on hr who has had this trouble this is what he told me??? so which one is it? he ended cutting off the old flare and getting new imperial fitting then reflaring them so he definitly got imperial????????

    Ugh, so much bullshit.
The USDM AE86 still uses 10x1mm double flares on all braking components. The Toyota brake lines are the same part number for the US vehicle as they are for the JDM and Aus cars.
Wilwood use 3/8-24 fittings as standard. The lines that ive seen come with this kit have 3/8-24 fittings on the caliper end and 10x1mm on the flare nut end.

    This!

and i have no idea - i have sold kits to guys which have had no problem and then to some who have, the old difference is that the guys that didnt have issues had ae86's and the ones that did has Ke70's.
its the only obvious thing i can see

    well....

The braided lines i have do not have a fitting on the end that would fit anything. The adaptor is a an imperial thread, not metric. This is for the hard line on the body.

The hard line for the body on the ausdm ke70 is 47314 for the passenger side.
The hard line for the body on the ausdm ae86 is 47313 for the passenger side. ( thisis a different part number obviously, so could show a different fitting)

The flexible brake hose from the caliper to the hardline on BOTH the ae86 and ke70 is part number 47313a. I would assume the different part numbers is for different bends in he line, NOT thread on the fitting.

however, i can not confirm that the ke70 and the ae86 share the exact same line fitting till the weekend, but the part numbers suggest they are interchangeable.

This would indicate to me that either me and a few others i know off have the same mistaken parts from the states, possible, or that some random ke70 have different pitch threads on their body hardlines.

if i have misunderstood the part numbers please ignore the above

You only get a couple of threads as it does up, as the nuts are slightly incompatible depth wise, but they still seat on the taper and seal in my application, and have done on 2 sucessive ae71s. I think assuming the part number differences support your theory is shortsighted and a bit wierd really, if you havent got all the parts in your hands, how could you comment in any fashion that doesnt just mislead people. Im saying that ae71/ke70/ae86 all the same flare nuts because I personally have worked on all three and observed the similarities. It fits, some people may feel uncomfortable only having about 3 turns of thread joining the hard line to the braid, but that doesn't mean the thread is wrong. It just means that some people fitting it arent that observant and make the odd assumption. I dont understand why, even if it was different, you would not bother going to the brake shop and spending 3 or 4 dollars on a brass adapter to connect the two. Its not rocket science either way and Im surprised it rates such a discussion.

oh my god. do you even finish reading things before rattling off on your own.?????

how could i be misleading. im supplying part numbers for CARS I OWN. thats right. Ill repeat myself. I OWN A KE70 and and AE86. I purchased this kit of Joel. The adaptor i have DOES NOT SHARE THE THREAD OF THE HARD LINE I HAVE ON MY KE70. simple and clear and NOT misleading.

You may be comfortable, if this is the case, having two mismatched threads only engaged by, in my case, 2 of 7 threads, and a mismatch of flairs but 4mm, as the basis for your braking system, but i am not.

I have been to 2 brake supply parts specialists in my area, and NOTHING HAS BEEN AN APPROPRIATE FIT.

What i suggested by my post above is the possibility that a small part, ie the adaptor to the hard line, has been incorrectly supplied to some of the kits assembled in the US. This seems plausible to me as i have already had to fork out for bolts that were incorrectly supplied with this kit.

What your suggesting is i suck it up and just drive around with ill fitting brake parts. Tops idea.

This was not a discussion. I supplied information tha proved, via part numbers, that my ke70 and ae86 brake lines have the same fittings. I also proved through my own experiance, that the adaptor I have is not compatible. That is NOT to say the adaptor that MAY be meant to be supplied with this kit is not the right one.

I also supplied as solution. USE THE ORIGINAL FUCKING LINES. or did you miss that mr rocket scientist.

Apologies to spirited drive if anything i have said he feels is incorrect or misleading. i thought i was a thread to supply people with information before purchasing a product. If you want, ill remove all my posts.
