ive recently be using toyo R1R's, and are would be a fantastic hill climb tyre, they also go alright at the track too.

on the street they are fantastic and stupidly grippy (i mean stupidly grippy, like you can dive in to corners much faster than you think) when ive been on a few spirited drives. had them at MDTC as well and they were stupid grippy there too, had a few slides but that was because of the bumps on the track (if you've been there you'll understand).

ive also found them very progressive when they let go too. one of the guys i work with runs R888's on his mx5 and loves them, they provide a large amount of grip and he usually get a 3-4 track days out of them.

R1R's and adrenalins on 205/50 15's are about the same price. also R888 in 195 and 205 are about the same price.

After being in lawsons rig with both ^^ The r1rs def have the edge over the 001. Awesome value for money but they have a lower treadwear and dont last as long. The trade off for more grip i guess.

    what he said.
the R1R have huge amounts of grip in the wet, dry, patchy whatever. biggest trade off it that i reckon ill get just over 6mths out of them not driving everyday.
RE001s are a good street tyre, but have since changed the compound since being made in australia. they used to be 170-180 tread wear now they are 220. even on the micra with 95% tread you can still break traction easily with them in the wet. this is only applicable to common sizes (185/60 14, 195/50 15, 245/40 17 etc etc) these are made in australia, the others are made in japan still (205/50 15 springs to mind)

dont get me wrong i still like adrenalins and would probably best for a skid car, but for grip and price the R1R's are impossible to beat.

Got some new 195/55/15 RE001 last week and they are made in Taiwan.

My last pair were made in Aus, the pair before that, Japan.
