you either need a 100kw dizzy, or a rwd dizzy. theyre 2 different things. i have the rwd dizzy, with cap in good condition and TRD leads.

im pretty sure its the 100kw motor (smallport) as the intake manifold has been cut and shut...

yeah thought there was a difference...

wasn't sure as the only other 4age ive played with was my rwd one that i put in my ke70

there are 3 versions of dizzy for 16v 4age. and then a few sub variants that just use different caps. the main thing you need is to get the one with the right crank trigger to work with your existing ecu.

there is big port. ae86 and ae82 type. then aw11 mr2 late big port. and lastly ae92 small port type.

what im saying, and what i think youre hopping to do, is use a rwd BP dizzy on what youve assumed is a small port. this wont work.

ah ok man, thanks for the heads up ... the ecu has AE86 written on it? but it goes harder than the bigport i think? is there a clear way of telling if its big or small port? is it visually different? i could get a photo of the one i pulled out?

easist way may be to look at the plug.

the bigport ones have a sorta round plug with 3 pins, pretty sure the smallport ones have a grey square plug with 4 pins?

i think also the smallport one uses the smaller type ignition leads on the main ignition lead from the coil to the dizzy cap.

yeah, could be a small port on big port management, which incidentally is a good combo. that or just a converted fwd engine. anyway if your ecu has 86 on it, then its a BP dis' you will need.
