Default Nissan 4 spots on AE86

    Hey guys,

I once owned a 86 which had nissan 4 spots on it and was wondering if
anyone still makes the adapter for the calipers or if the AJPS RX7 ones work.

I would just do the RX7 setup but I already have the Nissan calipers.

Any help or links would be great.

    Cheers, Ben

Slide86 has converted to filthy nissan S14 calipers. If nissan calipers share the same bolt spacing (which i believe most of them do) then you're set.

PM him or look up his old build thread on the old forum.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

realistically will the greater braking power of r32 brakes over fc be wasted? i mean with our cars being so much lighter you can only slow down so fast?
    stroked 2L ca18-ae86 in the build...eta xmas 2012?

I agree 100%, if anything brakes bigger than FC will more than likely overbrake a 900kg car with camber and 195 tyres. I'll take AJPS advice and go FC setup.

    Thanks for your help

i kinda thoiught all the 4 pots were made by the same crew anyways??? sumumoto ?? or something like...so the fc, subaru and nissan etc etc are all basically the same, but bolt spacing and offsets differ.... mainly confused in terms of the "more powerful nissan setup" statement

    Z32, 280mm front rotors, weight 1500kg.
Mini cooper JCW runs 316mm rotors on the front, weight 1100kg

If Z32 brakes are excessive for ae86, look at the Mini Cooper specs!! I know of a 560kg clubman sporting z32 front brakes...........

It's just a context thing. Track (grip), bigger is likely better. Street, an ra60/mx62 setup works very well.
Mazda calipers are great for the added sexiness......

    Research the disc widths too.

    +weights...inc rotors!

Heres the drawing detail for the my RX7 caliper brackets (courtesy of Hen on toymods) ...you can measure the nissan hole spacing to compare...

Oh yeah it uses these disks:
    "Disc- 280mm 180SX (from SR20 variety I think)"

    Might help

you dont need an adaptor to bolt them up. i have s14 brakes on my car

i use st141 struts and hubs and these calipers bolt straight on. the only thing i did was use a spacer between the caliper and strut to correct the offset for the disc. im also using the 280 x 30mm rotors.
