JDM rear caliper problem

Issue with- rear end calipers

Problem - I am running a a JDM disc brake rear end and I am having problems with the caliper locking. I recently had all the seals replaced, and new pistons installed as it wasnt locking/grabbing at all. After having this work done it still had the same problem. After taking it back and getting the cables & pistons reset, they said the pistons are working, but the caliper cannot close enough to lock because of a worn out part within the caliper. they were pretty shit explaining it, but simply it closes enough to hold the car at a standstill, but it cannot lock at any speed even on dirt.

Has anyone had a problem like this, or a solution??

the standard calipers are junk with the mechanical mechanism and dont realy lock up well no matter what, better off with a hydro setup if you want it to work. with the locking up id say seals are aftermarket not genuine and are sticking the caliper on??
maybe the mechanism isnt working correctly?
maybe the place did the cables up so tight to try and make it work that its not releasing the calipers?
maybe there is dirt/shit in the caliper bore and its seizing (had that happen before) hope this helps

Im pretty sure it is the mechanism in them that is worn out, im not even sure if you can replace them? I put genuine seals into them so that marks them off and the shop loosened the cables then re-adjusted them....but with no luck.

The question is...can you replace the mechanisms ha?

the mechanism was never intended to lock the wheels at 100k's.
to put it simple, its just a shit design with the small 234mm standard disks.

try the buddyparts s13 (264mm? from memory) rear disk upgrade adapter and disks.
should work better with the larger diameter and also, adjust the shit out of the cables.

also, project mu make pads specifically for this application and rumour has it that they are pretty good.

most definately replace the mechanisms in them maybe try and source a genuine rebuild kit if it comes with the mechanisms or just put some second hand units on and use ur new seals in em!!

i run the disc rear end and i use project mu pads works well but i constantly have to re adjust my calipers after every drift sesh im over it and going hydro i would recommend you do the same maby if you really wanna lock it up hard

the calipers themselves aren't the problem, i got my brake bias valve gutted and the back brakes do lock pretty hard using the brake pedal, its the crappy self-adjusting bolt mechanism that the handbrake uses is what sucks, there's a clutch inside the piston thats supposed to turn to allow the self adjusting bolt to tighten up the handbrake assembly when you pull the handbrake lever but it doesn't work real good. so there's always that slack there, you can get them to work okay but you gotta rip them back apart to do it, probably what pen 15 meant by having to constantly readjust his calipers

thats it they do lock up great at any speed both wheels but yeah always have to adjust them all the fucking time my suggestion to fix hydro hand brake lol
