    Default Measuring Coilover Ride Height

hey guys just wondering if theres a particular way to measure the height of ur front coilovers so that when u come to adjust the spring it is not too high or too low as oppose to the rear ride height? Also is a c spanner required to adjust the lock rings, it does make it easier though?

    Thanks

    Trial and error.

    C spanners help.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

    I did it like so:

    Car on Jack stands
Jack under LCA/bottom of ball joint
Jack up till that side lifts up off jack stand (only by a tiny bit)
Measure from inside of guard, from the camber top, down to the base of the strut.
Then copied on the other side. Then trial and error till got them even.

Oh and I used a hammer and flat head screw driver for tightening the adjustment rings, slightly un-orthodoxed but did the trick

I'm sure there is an easier way, but yeah, worked for me!

Well, if you have 7kg/mm springs on the front, you could calculate that they would compress 34mm from free length when loaded and in the car. With this info, you can do more calculations and decide on your strut length before you put them in the car. But in practice this will probably be wrong, and you will need more adjustments.

Maybe you want about 100mm clearance between the road and the bottom of the side seams, both front and rear.

The C-spanners have to be the right ones for the diameter coil-over fittings you are using, otherwise they will slip and not work. Or, flat screwdriver and hammer.

get c spanners coz later down the track you will have these ugly as, chiped and broken lock rings.

to measure them i just measure from the same point of the camber top to the same spot on the lock ring.
