And also your car, whatever it is, has to be the GT spec or sports model or they won't even be interested. It does not have to be a genuine GT (the Celica pictured isn't) but it should be of that spec. For your xE7x car, the best factory GT model for that shape is the TE71 Corolla GT sedan, with 2T-GEU. Put a 2T-GE in, get a GT badge off ebay (any), make it neat and you could probably enter. Just photocopy a TE71 sales brochure for proof.

I was talking to the owner of the Celica TA22 pictured here, yesterday. It is not a genuine GT. It has a 2T-G motor, 1600cc, fairly standard by the look of it. Genie extractors. Electric fan. Oil cooler. Twin Webers. Commodore brakes. Standard T series diff with a 4.7:1 ratio. Aftermarket rear sway bar. All the normal stuff. But it would have been one of the cheapest cars in the field (that's not a bad thing).

I know the guy that built the motor in the Celica - I don't have the exact details but do know it has a fair whack of compression and some aftermarket cams

I don't know if I'd bother converting my ae71 to compete then Johnny, as I would need to convert back to flat front, take out the 4age and install a 2tg, plus buy a Jap GT grill, quad lights, etc etc. I am assuming e safety regs are as per usual Targa (FIA rated seats, full cage, fire equipment and full suits, etc)?

Yes, the whole bit. We live in the future, and it's a 1st world country. FIA and CAMS rated everything. Even balaclavas are required of everyone.

I assumed as much - I just wish they had like an IPRA/3J class, would make life much easier for people who already have a car

And by "people who already have a car" I mean me, lol
