So...... who is entering next year? I know some people on this forum could afford it, if they were carefull and didn't waste money on JDM stickers. The rules are actualy there to help you in some cases. The money saved on not going 3S-GTE can be spent on a helmet and fuel. I know I would rather spend the time driving.

Going back to engine mods for the rally cars, in the Classic Adelaide my understanding was that the bottom end wasnt allowed any modification (namely boring to bigger CC) but you were allowed to work the tits off the head if you wanted to? Do you reckon this would be the same for Targa Tas?

I'd love to be able to enter, but the sup regs have already ruled that out.... Unless I can find another car in the next 12 months and enter that.....

I almost have a legit car. Just looking for a cashed up navigator! But there are a few club events you have to do and other hoops to jump through to get your full Cams licence and everything. (Including a medical I think).

I think sometimes there is the option to up your capasity, which then just puts you in a different class. Some old cars have almost no limit on capasity. For the 1980's section I was reading, you could bore the block maybe 1mm, or go over 10% in capasity for the purpose of cleaning up the bore. The head and block had to be the same items, but different pistons and porting was allowed.

I should get Octagon to send everything to me so I can sit down and wade through it all.

    Hhhmmm....

Its a strange one. I for one would love to be able to compete in rally tas, targa wrest point etc, but due to my mods im deemed not applicable.

Its not as if i'd be wanting to enter in the classic class against fairly basic setups, but the fact that the provision isnt even written into the regs to allow me to enter say in the modern class (as the car would be comparable to a modern car) or a class deemed 'fair' by the clerk etc is just stupid. Correct me if im wrong (and there is in fact the option to enter something along the lines of waht my car is...) but from my reading through the regs its pretty much outruled.

Apparently targa west allows virtually anything - escorts with sr20s etc, redesigned suspension - to enter. Why is there not an 'improved production' type class open to anything that is excluded from the regular classes? A class where like minded car builders (such as myself) can enter and do battle with whatever the competition throws in, knowing upon entering that I could be up against the world's most developed ferrari and not being able to whinge about it because the class is there to be entered. I think it'd make for much more appeal (the event) and would make for even better racing.. Might not be close, but it'd be fun having something to aim for.

Medwin, in gravel rallies you can enter a car like yours as an ORV (other registered vehicle), not sure if you can do the same in targa, perhaps rally tas though, worth looking into
