I've switched from using coolant(anti-freeze/anti-boil stuff) to distilled water and . Straight distilled should be fine but I put corrosion inhibitor in for some peace of mind.

Is it OK to use Castrol corrosion inhibitor or do i have to buy the genuine Toyota stuff?

just dont mix different types (Red/green) and youll be right with anything.
i used to use those little cans of inhibiter, dad is a big fan of them, but then i started buying the bottles of coolant (5L ones that react to UV light!!) and never looked back.

yeah toyota red is good but better than all that for the track is distilled water and a small bottle of redline water wetter.
I have heard and seemingly experienced something like distilled water causing more corrosion than tap water. I used to use $5 Clean team pre-mix, worked well. I want to now run a sacraficial zinc annode.

$6 autobarn premix
I have used Toyota red Longlife Colant and Denineralised water for20 years without an issue. Pulled the head of my Landcruiser a year ago and the alloy was like new without the slightest amount of corrosion. This is the safest way to go if you want to spend a couple of dollars more.
