    some tripper at work was talking about it can any1 explain it to me?

    dry sump involves an external (usually gilmer belt driven) oil pump, using the stock one as a 'lift pump', a flattened sump pan where the oil is force or gravity pumped to the pan and scavenged from the motor and back to an external resoivoir.

    the other major component it requires is money, and alot of it

    The other main objective of using the dry sump set-up is for racing where you want to lower the engine more (for a lower centre of gravity), this is the more serious side of racing when all other avenues have been exhausted. Unless of course, you've got money to burn like kaibeecee said.

    And as the crank isnt slapping through oil, it allows more power/response/rpm.

    it also causes more power by having a lower crank case pressure which reduces pumping possing and also improves ring seal.
