Default installing a sunroof into ke70

the old one that i wrote got deleted so im writing up another one as someone was interested.

how to install a sunroof into a ke70

first i went down to a wrecker and bought a sunroof (49 dollars) that came out of a tarago i think. i took it home and worked out how far back i wanted it on my car, was possitioned pretty much above the front seats in the middle.

i put the sunroof on the roof of the car and traced it out making sure it was centre and sqaure with the front windscreen. i then drilled a hole big enough to get the nibbler tool in and start cutting it out, you could also use tin snips or a grinder, i didnt use a grinder because it could ignite the roof lining.

once i had cut the hole i used a stanley knife and cut the roof lining about 20mm smaller than the hole cut in the roof. i used tin snips to cut the metal in the roof lining.

After this i test fitted it and made sure i could tuck the roof lining up into the internal flange (might have cut it too small so i trimmed it more to fit.

To glue the sunroof down to the roof of the car i used all purpose sillicone but after found out that sikaflex is much better as its non corrosive to paint. it comes in a caulking gun from the hardware shop.
when you push down the sun roof there will be some excess silicone that comes out the side, use a popstick to remove this as it will leave a nice finish, put more than enough silicone the in indenations on the roof so you make sure no water can leak into it. you can always wipe it off after, best thing to wipe it up is slightly soapy water on a rag or sponge.

once glued down i cut out small pieces of wood made into little wedges and wedged them between the inside of the roof and the flange on the sunroof to keep it tightley pulled down. i then tucked the roof lining up and screwed on the flange.

Looking at the sun roof that I bought, I have noticed that its got a slight curve compared to the KE70 roof.

Did you have any issues with your roof or did it mold itself to your roof?

good as, i have same sunroof i put into my KE,
nah it doesn't have any issues with the slight curve, the roof may curve up a bit and the sunroof will pull a bit straighter.
just make sure you clean the seal and silicone very very good.

yea just push it down and silicone the gaps
the roof will mould to the shape slightly and the silicone will take the rest
