Electrical Crimping tool

Looking at getting a crimp tool for doing all the automotive plugs that folds the metal tabs over and crimps them properly (not sure on the correct name though).

Got a jaycar one now and it is shit, just mashes the terminals up.

Anyone got any good suggestions?

Dads got a Wurth one that is really good to use, it uses a ratchet mechanism. Snap-On/ Bluepoint do a similar.

yeah that looks sort of like the one i need, although the actual crimping part looks a little different, i had a look on the bluepoint website but i couldn't find any good info, most tool shops should stock these yeah?

yer most good stores should. i do believe you can get insulated and noninsulated terminals, you may need both or different terminals

They do the F-crimp style in tihs diagram:


Can get them from RS or Farnell

For the other two styles the Narva ratcheting crimper does a good job.

i snapped these whilst in the snap on truck on friday......



the also do all the terminals as above. But to do non insulated types you swap over the heads with the ones supplied (they are in the picture, the lil black ones)

also try electrical supply stores can't think of the right name not like dicksmith more like where an actual electrician would go for supplies.
Dad and i use D & W and they have just about every type of crimper there is. I've found the is two systems, the red, yellow, blue sizes and then actual metric millimetre sizes. So we have one crimper which does the three color sizes and another that does about 5 or six metric sizes
